COLUMBUS, OH -- (Marketwired) -- 05/05/14 -- A Battelle-led team recently was awarded a $21.5 million contract to assist United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) J7 Training and Exercises Directorate in planning, rehearsing, conducting, and assessing a comprehensive program of joint service and partner nation training and exercise events and related activities, such as table top exercises, senior leader seminars, and interoperability workshops.
Under the three-year contract, Battelle will provide support to USPACOM J7 as it participates in an average of 21 Joint Exercises per year and an estimated annual total of 140 Joint Event Life Cycle events.
With more than 60 percent of the world's population, five of seven mutual defense treaties, complex regional relationships, and an ever changing transnational threat environment, USPACOM operations present unique challenges and opportunities for innovation, building partnership capacity, and reliability and accountability of existing and emerging technology solutions.
"Our goal is to enhance the success of training and exercises throughout the PACOM area of operation," said Sam Christopher, Battelle program manager. "We understand the importance of preparing our forces for the full range of military operations, as well as sustaining a high level of effort to address the day-to-day challenges of our deployed units and personnel."
The Battelle team is a collaboration of three companies, Battelle, Cubic, and Native Hawaiian Veterans (NHV), that provide a wide range of capabilities and expertise supporting national defense for combatant commands, services, and other government agencies such as the intelligence community, law enforcement, and civilian federal agencies.
As prime contractor, Battelle, the world's largest independent research and development organization, has provided senior leader analytical support for the development and execution of more than 100 strategic and operational planning events worldwide during the past 10 years.
Cubic, a large business provider of comprehensive mission support services and training systems that strengthen the readiness of our nation's military and security forces, has 37 full-time employees working for USPACOM J7. Cubic has provided support since the inception of the All Partners Access Network (APAN) Unclassified Information Sharing Service (UISS), or APAN-UISS, which has been adopted as the Department of Defense's enterprise solution to meet unclassified collaboration and information sharing requirements of joint and coalition military organizations, in 2000.
NHV, a Native Hawaiian owned, service disabled veterans owned small business, currently supports Department of Defense clients in the areas of Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Information Technology, Communication Equipment, Strategic Communications/Creative Services, and Professional Staff Augmentation.
Every day, the people of Battelle apply science and technology to solving what matters most.
