Cypress Expands Industry-Leading Nonvolatile RAM Portfolio With New 16 Mb Parallel nvSRAM Family

New nvSRAM Family Includes Industry's Fastest High-Density NVRAM and World's First NVRAM to Support Direct Connections to NAND Bus Controllers

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/14 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today introduced a family of 16 Mb nonvolatile Static Random Access Memories (nvSRAMs), including devices with asynchronous parallel and asynchronous Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) Standard 1.0 interfaces. The 16 Mb nvSRAM family extends Cypress's portfolio to address mission-critical applications such as high-end programmable logic controllers (PLCs), high-speed data/error loggers in storage equipment, networking equipment, avionics systems, and electronic gaming machines.

The 16 Mb nvSRAMs are the fastest high-density asynchronous nonvolatile RAMs on the market, with access times as low as 25 ns. Cypress offers the new devices with an optional integrated Real-Time Clock (RTC), which enables time-stamping of critical data to be logged. Cypress nvSRAMs feature infinite read, write and recall cycles, with 20-year data retention at 85˚C and 150 years at 65˚C. Cypress nvSRAM is an ideal solution for applications requiring continuous high-speed reading and writing of data and absolute nonvolatile data security. Availability
The 16 Mb nvSRAM family is sampling today, with production expected in the third quarter of 2014. The ONFI 1.0 devices operate on a 3V power supply, 1.8V IO supply, in data bus widths of 8 bits and 16 bits, and are available in a 165-ball FBGA package. The asynchronous parallel devices are offered with and without an RTC, in data bus widths of 8 bits, 16 bits and 32 bits, and at power supply levels of 3V, 5V, and 3V with 1.8V I/O. Cypress's nvSRAMs use charge stored on an external capacitor instead of a battery, making the devices compatible with standard PCB assembly processes. Cypress's nvSRAMs are RoHS-compliant and directly replace SRAM, battery-backed SRAM (BBSRAM) and EEPROM devices, offering fast nonvolatile data storage.
