PRSONAS wins at Charlotte Venture Challenge Startup Competition

“Seeing is believing,” says David Rose, CEO of Durham-based PRSONAS, a company that creates smart virtual presenters for trade shows, event marketing, and retailers.

Rose is referring to the company’s brain child, a remarkably life-like computer generated image (CGI) that engages and interacts with customers while gathering web-style analytics in the physical world.

He likes to call her Angi for short.

And Angi’s appearance made a big splash last Thursday when Rose pitched his young technology company to potential investors and decision makers from Fortune 500 companies at the Charlotte Venture Challenge.

In its 13th year, CVC is billed as the top event of its kind in the Southeast. Thirty-six up and coming startups from several states competed on May 1.

CVC, which is held on the campus of UNC Charlotte in their new, state-of-the-art Portal building, is run through the university’s non-profit business incubator, Ventureprise.

“It’s not surprising, that this year’s competition was fierce,” says Rose who competed (along with Angi) in the I.T. and Informatics Bracket.

“Just being selected for the challenge is a huge honor, and a great way to get our name and product in front of important corporate eyes.”

Six other Triangle startups were also chosen to compete at CVC, including Raleigh-based Snap Yeti. Creators of a photo sharing site built around contests, Snap Yeti was runner up to PRSONAS in the IT bracket win.

“PRSONAS is bringing digital marketing to the physical world through our smart virtual presenters. No one is doing that right now in the way that we are,” he continued.

Apparently, the CVC judges agreed.

PRSONAS, along with 5 other bracket winners, received a cash prize. But the recognition will likely prove to be an even more valuable asset. Past CVC honorees have gone on to international acclaim, along with millions in investments and corporate partnerships. For a young startup like PRSONAS, that translates into a huge win.

PRSONAS smart virtual presenters use artificial intelligence and computer generated visual technologies to interact with customers and gather valuable user analytics in the physical world. PRSONAS can deliver marketing messages, provide customer support and conduct commerce anywhere, anytime and in any language.
