CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS AMERICA 2014, the leading U.S. conference for payment, identification and mobility technologies, is expanding its roster of sessions, specialized programs, and content at this third annual event in Las Vegas, May 13-15. The new exhibition hall offers a wider range of new product offerings and a new Emerging Payments pavilion.

In addition to a comprehensive conference agenda with more than 80 educational sessions during 6 education tracks and 5 keynote sessions, this year CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS AMERICA 2014 will offer three days of technology presentations in the exhibition hall. Demonstrations by Agfa, GET group, Trüb AG and Utimaco will center on security issues, while Barnes International, Inteligensa, SMARTRAC, Starchip and UL Transaction Security will lead presentations on payment and EMV technologies. Additional demonstrations by Feig, Oberthur Technologies and TAS Group will feature innovations in secure and mobile payment.

The expanded exhibition hall boasts a 21 percent increase in participation and will feature 166 exhibiting companies and a new dedicated “Emerging Payments and Financial Services Pavilion” with 17 participants showcasing new point-of-sale and mobile payment advances. Newly launched featured products will include: Powa Technolgies’ PowaPOS T-Series, which integrates all major tablet platforms with high-speed printer, two-dimensional scanner, cash drawer, and EMV payment terminal; and TAS Group’s card management system, CARD 3.0, a self-contained, out-of-the box, lifecycle management solution for any digital payment product and IFPL’s CRS (contactless retail system) in-seat payment system for airline and other transport passengers.

Representing the conference and exhibition’s international appeal, more than 25 percent of CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS AMERICA’s attendees are travelling to Las Vegas from overseas markets. On the show floor, CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS AMERICA presents products and solutions that have been tested and tried in global markets as nearly 50% of the exhibitors are international. This includes a dozen French companies participating in this year’s dedicated “French Pavilion” sponsored by Ubifrance at the exhibition.

The 2014 event will also feature the first annual American SESAMES Awards based on the 19 year heritage of the SESAMES Awards held each year at the CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS Exposition in France. The awards aim to reward the most innovative technological applications developed for the American market in the field of smart cards, digital security, identification, secure transactions and contactless technology.

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users.
