EFT Source, Inc., a provider of turnkey card programs and personalization services for ATM and debit cards for financial institutions, announced it has been recognized by the American Heart Association as a Fit-Friendly Worksite.
The American Heart Association recognizes employers as Fit-Friendly Worksites for creating a culture of wellness in the workplace. Companies are rewarded for their progressive leadership and concern for their staff. Companies recognized employ healthy practices such as:
- Providing walking routes;
- Promoting walking programs, online newsletters and tracking tools to motivate employees; and
- Allowing staff to wear athletic shoes in the workplace on designated “sneaker days.”
Adult Americans spend most of their waking hours at work - many of them while sitting at a desk. According to the American Heart Association, this makes them vulnerable to health risks associated with inactive lifestyles. Studies suggest that by starting a worksite wellness program and promoting a culture of activity, companies can increase productivity, reduce absenteeism, lower turnover and reduce healthcare costs.
“At EFT Source, we pride ourselves on promoting a healthy work environment,” said Bill Dinker, president of EFT Source. “Being recognized by the American Heart Association as a Fit-Friendly Worksite is not only exciting, but also a testament to our efforts, and we encourage other companies to do the same.”
