EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/07/14 -- The second annual E-Town festival will be welcoming Peter Diamandis, Hayley Wickenheiser and Raine Maida as its headlining speakers September 11-12, 2014. The event brings entrepreneurial minds together for a two-day exchange of ideas and inspiration.
Diamandis is the engineer, physician and entrepreneurial extraordinaire responsible for founding the XPRIZE Foundation, which uses incentivized competition to inspire breakthroughs in technology that will benefit humanity. Wickenheiser requires little introduction - household name, four-time Olympic medalist and arguably the best female hockey player in the world. Maida is the founding member and lead singer of Our Lady Peace, one of the best songwriters in music today, and an actively passionate humanitarian.
"Edmonton, Alberta is an incredibly entrepreneurial, innovative place. Ideas just thrive here, and that's because our people are curious and bold enough to take risks and help each other. E-Town is about challenging people to think differently about creativity, leadership, entrepreneurship and inspiring ideas that could change the world," says Brad Ferguson, president and CEO of Edmonton Economic Development.
Festival goers will experience a calibre of speakers rarely seen in Western Canada. Exposure to these thought leaders and influencers, and the chance to exchange and discuss ideas around some of the world's greatest challenges and opportunities, will help to ignite the fire of 1,500 participants to become better entrepreneurs, thinkers, innovators and citizens.
Edmonton Economic Development heads a group of organizations behind the festival including Entrepreneurs' Organization, Alberta Women Entrepreneurs, Startup Edmonton, Make Something Edmonton, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Edmonton Executives Association, Junior Achievement and TEC Edmonton.
