PeraHealth, Inc. has announced that Tonya Kirby, BSN, MBA/MHA will fill the newly created role of Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness. With over 20 years of clinical experience, Tonya will join Charlotte, N.C.-based PeraHealth to provide extensive clinical and operational expertise to its rapidly expanding community of users.
Tonya will be responsible for strategically overseeing the deployment and use of PeraTrend™ to maximize clinical and operational impact for PeraHealth’s customers. Powered by the Rothman Index (RI), PeraTrend extracts key information from the electronic health record and provides clinicians with a real-time, visual understanding of patient condition. The RI serves as a common clinical language and contains embedded triggers to drive improved clinical and operational performance.
Prior to joining PeraHealth, Tonya served as Senior Director overseeing Premier’s nationally recognized hospital collaborative, QUEST®, a group of more than 350 hospitals and health systems sharing data and best practices to improve quality and cost. Tonya was instrumental in partnering with QUEST members to maximize the value they derived from the program; to date, QUEST hospitals have saved over 150,000 lives and more than $11 billion in operational improvements.
“Having served at the patient bedside in many roles, primarily as an ED nurse, Tonya’s clinical expertise and thorough understanding of process improvement through her experience with QUEST make her uniquely qualified to fill this important role for our firm,” said Stephanie Alexander, PeraHealth’s CEO. “She will undoubtedly amplify the clinical value of the Rothman Index in the hospitals and health systems that we serve.”
When focusing on strategically deploying the Rothman Index, Tonya will specifically be looking for opportunities to create proactive rapid response teams, manage length of stay, reduce unnecessary readmissions and optimize the use of ICU resources.

Serving as the scientific engine of PeraTrend, the Index is protected by five patents and is squarely rooted in clinical and scientific rigor, with eleven peer-reviewed published journal articles validating its core methodology. The firm’s vision: constantly strive to increase patient safety, transform the EHR into a true clinical decision support tool, support the continuum of care in a seamless fashion – all while continuing to expand the firm’s scientific and clinical impact.
