CPS Students Receive Scholarships to Pursue Science and Engineering

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - May 09, 2014) - Four area CPS students are one step closer to their goal of attending college thanks to the IPLAC Educational Foundation, which awards scholarships to CPS students who have achieved superior academic success, have demonstrated a strong sense of community through their extra-curricular activities, and have made a commitment to pursue engineering, science or pre-law in college. 

On Tuesday evening at the Union League Club of Chicago, Ornella Amoah (Roger C. Sullivan H.S.), Enrique Galarza (John F. Kennedy H.S.), Yong Yi "Vicky" Huang (Lane Tech H.S.), and Higinio Vazquez (Carl Schurz H.S.) were recognized as the Foundation's 2014 award recipients. Ms. Amoah plans to study chemistry at Jackson State. Mr. Galarza plans to study pharmacy at the University of Illinois - Chicago. Ms. Huang plans to study engineering at University of Wisconsin - Madison, and Mr. Vazquez plans to study biology at the University of Chicago. Since its inception in 1991, the IPLAC Educational Foundation has awarded scholarships annually to CPS students.
