NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 14, 2014) - B&H Photo is pleased to share the announcement of two new mirrorless cameras from Nikon: the 1 J4 with the NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-Zoom, and the S2 that's coupled with the NIKKOR 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Both cameras are updates to Nikon's line of mirrorless cameras and offer more megapixels, new processors, and extended ISO ranges. Nikon has also announced an underwater Speedlight and housing for the 1 J4.
1 J4 with 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-Zoom
The Nikon 1 J4 mirrorless digital camera has an 18.4MP CMOS sensor, 4.2MP more than the 1 J3, and an EXPEED 4A image processor, an improvement over the EXPEED3A in the 1 J3. The new camera's highest ISO expands to twice that of its predecessor, ranging from 160-12800 in steps of 1 EV. The 1 J4 has 171 focus areas when in single-point AF mode, with 105 of those supporting phase-detection AF. The slow-motion video feature on the 1 J4 now includes 120 fps as well as 400 and 1200 fps, all at higher resolution than the 1 J3 was capable of capturing. Wi-Fi no longer requires the WU-1b adapter, as it is now built into the 1 J4. Additional improvements include a higher-resolution 3.0" LCD screen and a slightly smaller, lighter body. The 1 J4 now uses microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC memory cards. Included with the camera is the NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-Zoom, a newer version of the 10-30mm lens that came with the 1 J3. S2 with 1 NIKKOR 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6
The Nikon S2 mirrorless digital camera has a 14.2MP CMOS sensor, 4.1MP more than the S1, and an EXPEED 4A image processor, an improvement over the EXPEED3A in the S1. The S2's highest ISO expands to twice that of the S1, ranging from 160-12800 in steps of 1 EV. The S2 has a slightly lighter body than the S1, and uses microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC memory cards instead of SD cards.
SB-N10 Underwater Speedlight
The new SB-N10 underwater Speedlight is for all Nikon 1 cameras, is waterproof down to 328' / 100 m, and has a guide number of 92/28 (ft/m, ISO 100). Auto TTL is available when the Speedlight is used with the 1 AW1 camera or the WP-N3, WP-N2, or WP-N1 housings. Manual mode can be used with the 1 AW1 or WP-N3. A targeting lamp shows you where the flash is directed, and assists autofocus. An included wide-flash adapter increases the angle of coverage to 120°.
WP-N3 Waterproof Housing
The WP-N3 waterproof housing allows you to take a 1 J4 or S2 camera with a 1 NIKKOR 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 or 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM lenses down to 147' (43 m). The zoom ring, mode dial, multi-selector, movie recording, playback, delete, and menu buttons are all easily accessible from the housing's exterior.
