bmw-santa-barbara-facility-rszBMW Santa Barbara made its first appearance at the Green Car Show this year debuting the all new BMW i3. While this is BMW’s first all electric production vehicle, BMW has over 40 years of extensive research and experience with electric vehicles. The all-electric BMW i3 started with innovation and equates a new understanding of premium vehicles that is defined by sustainability.

The BMW Group has been the automotive leader of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 8 consecutive years, since 2005 and was the first automotive company to be continuously ranked stating in 1999. Sustainability starts at the beginning of the supply chain where the carbon fiber manufacturing process uses clean energy from one of the world’s largest hydroelectric power plants, the Grand Coulee Dam. Every detail of the i3 is based on sustainability from design to production to the product life cycle and disposal, sustainability is an attitude that has no beginning and no end.

The BMW i3 has a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge and is available with a range of complimentary 360° Electric products and services allowing you to drive with confidence. Made using extremely strong and lightweight Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic, the BMW i3 is innovative from its foundation. The sustainable design combined with BMW’s undeniable agility and premium features, this is an EV that will change how you think about driving.

Visitors at the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival were asked to pledge to make a positive change for the environment. Some chose to pledge to drive less and others chose to pledge that they will drive electric. For the average driver, switching to electric reduces CO2 emissions by about 9,000 pounds every year. Come to BMW Santa Barbara and decide today to make the switch to an electric vehicle by getting into the new BMW i3.
