LENEXA, KS -- (Marketwired) -- 05/17/14 -- Without the aid of a phone booth to change into costume, Grantham University had a team of super heroes participate in Hillcrest's Super Hero Walk for the Homeless led by their fearless president, Joseph McGrath. The University also served as a Bronze Level sponsor for the second year in a row.
For 30 years, Hillcrest of Kansas City has helped homeless families by providing transitional housing and the training needed to help them overcome barriers in order to become self-supportive members of society. Through this work they have a success rate of 95 percent of their graduates achieving their goals within 90 days.
"When the University first relocated to Kansas City after Hurricane Katrina, we were essentially homeless," said McGrath. "The city and its surrounding communities opened their arms and hearts to us, so we did not have to go without clothing, furniture, medical supplies and housing. When the opportunity presents itself to help a wonderful cause like Hillcrest's Walk for the Homeless, we are happy to give back to the community that has given us so much."
