Mitchell International Offers Compliance Advisory Services for Regulatory Authorities

Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court Leverages Mitchell's Expertise to Navigate Fee Schedule Updates and Manage Costs

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/20/14 -- Mitchell, a leading provider of technology, connectivity and information solutions to the Property & Casualty claims and Collision Repair industries, today announced its national compliance advisory services offering to assist regulatory bodies with transitions to new medical reimbursement policies and guidelines. The company consulted with the Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court, to increase efficiencies and manage costs regarding their fee schedule update processes resulting from Medicare revised rates in 2014.

The state of Nebraska passes an updated workers' compensation fee schedule into law in June of every other year using updated data from Medicare and other proprietary sources.

"It isn't uncommon for states to update their fee schedules annually or quarterly to stay up-to-date on current medical procedural coding and fee schedule rule changes. It allows jurisdictions to provide current and relevant pricing for their region," said Michele Hibbert Iacobacci, Vice President of Information Management and Support at Mitchell International. "Without updated pricing fee schedules become obsolete and do not represent what is happening in the market today. Current information creates a less reactive approach to reviewing provider charges / bills in an effort to pay what is owed by payers."

To aid with this transition, Mitchell provided advisory services at a cost-savings to the state while effectively helping the Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court to navigate the complicated Medicare fee schedule changes at the beginning of 2014.

"As a company established nearly 70 years ago, we've built and retained a team of highly skilled industry experts who are active members of leading national organizations including WEDI, IAIABC, AHIMA and AIHC. Not to mention, we work diligently with customer advisory groups to assist in forming and maintaining accurate compliance programs," said Nina Smith-Garmon, Executive Vice President of Casualty Solutions at Mitchell International. "There is a growing need for assistance with fee schedule and bill review related matters in the casualty space and we have the expertise and historical data to do it. Because of this, we are actively seeking new relationships with jurisdictions where we can be a valued, trusted advisor in their compliance programs."
