Mining Matters builds awareness and interest in Earth science among youth

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/21/14 -- The WHERE Challenge is a national contest that asks students aged 9 - 14 years to discover the answers to these questions: What on Earth is in your stuff and WHERE on Earth does it come from? The Challenge promotes education and awareness among students about the mining industry and the relevance of rocks and minerals used to make virtually everything (that) they use every day.

After receiving entries from more than 500 students across the country, the 6th annual Mining Matters WHERE Challenge, sponsored by Kinross Gold Corporation, has awarded more than $5,000 in five national, 11 regional and three school prizes.
