Learn why network virtualization is the final frontier to conquer for high-utilization and high-performance clouds (since server and storage virtualization are already mature).
2013 was the year of SDN's debut, but in his session at 14th Cloud Expo, Robert Drost, Co-Founder and COO of Pluribus Networks, will discuss how SDN's relevant server-centric comparison for network virtualization (NV) is whether it operates like a server Type-I hypervisor (Bare Metal) or Type-II (Hosted). He will explain how OpenStack, OpenDaylight, OpenFlow, Cisco ONE, VMware NSX, and others compare and work with server hypervisors and how to incorporate network virtualization in your cloud to improve analytics, compliance, management, scalability, reliability, cloudBursting, and billing features.
Robert Drost was a Sr. Distinguished Engineer and Director of Advanced Hardware at Sun Microsystems. Robert has extensive hardware experience, including over 90 patents and a 17 year career in high-performance computing systems. Among other recognitions, Robert has been cited by MIT's Technology Review TR35 as most innovative computing technologist under age 35, and by the Wall Street Journal with a Gold Medal for Innovation in Computing Systems.

While Docker continues to be the darling of startups, enterprises and IT innovators around the world, networking continues to be a real mess. Indeed, managing the interaction between Docker containers and networks has always been fraught with complications. Without automation in networking, the vision of running Docker at scale and letting IT run the same apps unchanged on the laptop and in the data center or for any cloud cannot be realized.

Why does developer experience matters, what makes for a great developer experience and what is the relationship between developer experience and the broader field of user experience? Software developers are gaining more influence over the purchase decisions of technologies with which they must build on and with which they must integrate. For example, the success of Amazon Web Services, Heroku and MongoDB has been driven primarily by individual software developers choosing to use these tools, ra...
