Lauren Moulton-Beaudry, Director of Ethics and Education at Front Porch, Named Outstanding Mentor of the Year

Receives Top Honor at Annual LeadingAge California Conference

GLENDALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/27/14 -- Front Porch, a not-for-profit 'human serving' organization featuring innovative communities and programs that meet the changing needs of individuals as they age, is pleased to announce that Lauren Moulton-Beaudry, director of ethics and education, has been named Outstanding Mentor of the Year by LeadingAge California.

Moulton-Beaudry received the honor during LeadingAge California's annual conference in Palm Springs. Her work with Front Porch includes leading service excellence through Front Porch University/5-STAR College and heading the Front Porch Ethics Board and Regional Committees.

"We are thrilled to present Lauren with this award, as she is very deserving of it," said Janice Guiliano, vice president of education at LeadingAge California. "Lauren is a catalyst for innovative educational programs, resulting in the delivery of resident-centered care and services at Front Porch."

"Lauren's work with the Front Porch Ethics Board and Committees ensure the integration of Front Porch's core values promoting high standards and clear expectations for all employees," said Laurie Small, executive director at Vista del Monte Retirement Community and a member of the Front Porch Ethics Board. "Under her leadership, the educational programs of Front Porch University, including the 5-STAR and Leadership Colleges, have fostered growth and development of employees at all levels of the organization. Her dedication to residents and staff alike is evidenced by the decrease in employee turnover and the increase in staff, who have become eligible for career advancement at Front Porch."

The Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of an individual who has mentored a protégé(s) in the not-for-profit senior services sector. A mentor has nurtured, coached, counseled and encouraged others in order to help them develop personally and professionally. Mentoring needed to have occurred while the individual was a LeadingAge California member.

"It is an honor to be the recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award," Moulton-Beaudry said. "Mentorship is crucial to any organization trying to align its goals with the professional development of its staff. Everyone, regardless of job title, can benefit from impactful mentorship. At Front Porch, we are very focused on whole person wellbeing. Being a mentor means fostering dedicated team members who embrace our mission of meeting needs. Instilling practices that create collaboration, inspire creativity and empower new leaders within Front Porch is vital to helping meet needs as today's aging society continues to evolve."

Alongside her current role, Moulton-Beaudry was also an influencer in Front Porch's rollout of Humanly Possible(SM), a groundbreaking strategic approach to "innovation with a cause" and greater collaboration, earlier this year. In today's aging society, organizations must evolve to successfully meet the world's dramatically emerging needs. As Front Porch continues its rollout of Humanly Possible(SM), Moulton-Beaudry has been conducting leadership workshops for current management staff, while also putting together orientation for new management. Along with integrating the Humanly Possible(SM) model into Front Porch's 5-STAR College curriculum, she collaborates with a host of Master Trainers in her teaching efforts.

"Lauren's extraordinary mentorship readies our colleagues to explore possibilities and help frame 'what's next' in order for Front Porch to achieve its mission to creatively meet needs," said Kari Olson, chief innovation and technology officer for Front Porch.

In addition to receiving her award, Moulton-Beaudry presented a session at this year's conference on "Kindness: The Ultimate Engagement" and was installed into the LeadingAge Board of Directors as Region Representative.

LeadingAge California represents more than 400 non-profit providers of senior living and care who serve the needs of more than 100,000 Californians. It is the state's leading advocate for quality, not-for-profit senior living and care. The annual conference is considered the premiere event of the year among long-term care professionals. From May 5-7, more than 500 long-term care industry leaders attended the conference for networking opportunities, to receive leading education and information on the latest innovations on senior care.

Front Porch, a co-sponsor of the annual conference, had plenty of representation at the three-day conference as well:

  • Jeffrey S. Kirschner, divisional vice president, was elected to LeadingAge California's Board of Directors as Policy Advocate Role
  • Roberta Jacobsen, president, was elected to the Board as National LeadingAge Representative
  • Sally Plank, executive director, Sunny View Retirement Community, was elected to the Board as Regional Representative
  • Bill Jennings, chief strategy officer, delivered a presentation titled "Growth Through Affiliations"
  • Mary Miller, CFO, delivered a presentation titled "Exploring New Funding Sources"
  • Laurie Small, executive director, Vista del Monte Retirement Community, and Peggy Buchanan, coordinator of vitality and wellness, spoke on "A 'Well' Derness Rehab Journey"
  • Keith Church, executive, Pacific Homes Foundation and FACT Foundation, delivered a presentation titled "Appealing to Your Built-In Donor Base - A Look at Successful (and Disastrous) Fundraising Efforts Through the Eyes of Resident Donors." This presentation included a panel discussion by Front Porch retirement community residents: Corinne Sawyer, Jeanne Roach, Josephine Fulton and Ray Killeen.

Editor's Note: Lauren Moulton-Beaudry is available to media to discuss her award, as well as the importance of mentorship -- and its role in meeting the evolving needs of today's aging society.

We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. The term culture has had a polarizing effect among DevOps supporters. Some propose that culture change is critical for success with DevOps, but are remiss to define culture. Some talk about a DevOps culture but then reference activities that could lead to culture change and there are those that talk about culture change as a set of behaviors that need to be adopted by those in IT. There is no question that businesses successful in adopting a DevOps mindset have seen departmental culture change, ...
