OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/29/14 -- As part of the My Giving Moment campaign, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will volunteer their time at The Ottawa Mission on the occasion of the TELUS Day of Giving, which will take place on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 11:30 a.m.
Joined by TELUS team members and retirees, as well as community leaders, Their Excellencies will serve food and refreshments to the clients of The Ottawa Mission during a community barbecue. They will also take this opportunity to visit the facility, learn about the various services offered, and interact with staff.
"Giving has always been an important part of our lives," said His Excellency. "Sharon and I strongly feel that helping and improving our community is the key to building a smarter and more caring nation. We are delighted to participate in TELUS Day of Giving at The Ottawa Mission, and we hope our giving moment will inspire others to get involved in their own community and witness for themselves how simple gestures can make a big difference."
