Shelly Palmer Radio Report – May 30, 2014

It just got a lot easier to let all your Facebook friends know exactly what you’re watching on TV. Facebook recently announced a new feature for its mobile app that activates your phone’s microphone to recognize the TV show you’re watching or song you’re listening to. You’re then able to easily share this info to your News Feed so your friends can listen to 30 second song previews or check out links to the TV show’s page. If you don’t like or don’t want this feature, you don’t have to turn it on – and nothing about your Facebook experience will change. But if you DO turn it on, you’ll see an audio level indicator every time you go to post a new status. Your phone will then recognize any of millions of songs or shows on 160 U.S. TV channels. Tap on the one that matches what you’re watching or listening to, and share your status! This new feature will roll out to iOS and Android users sometime in the next few weeks.
