212 exhibitors from 22 countries presented their brands at the 20th Modern Bakery Moscow on April 23 - 26, 2014. With 98 Russian and 114 international exhibitors, nearly all industry leaders were represented there. With 45 new participants, the number of new exhibitors was encouraging.
The German Pavilion has been organized for the eighth time in a row at Modern Bakery Moscow. At the request of the German Engineering Association (VDMA), the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology supported the official participation of German companies at Modern Bakery Moscow for the eighth time, 41 exhibitors presented themselves there.
The American Pavilion, which has been hold for the first time at Modern Bakery Moscow, received positive response. It was organized in cooperation with the BEMA (Bakery Equipment Manufacturers & Allieds).
The majority of the exhibitors was very satisfied with the quality and the number of the visitors at Modern Bakery Moscow, and predicted a successful post-show business.
Over 15,000 visitors from 43 countries had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and developments of the industry during four days of the exhibition. The number of visitors increased by more than 5 percent compared to the last year. Almost half of the registered visitors were owners, CEOs or Senior Managers and therefore significantly involved in the decision making process.
27 percent of all visitors came from industrial bakeries, 20 percent from the confectionery and sweets industries and 15 percent from bakery machinery manufacturers. Further industries represented were: ingredients, smaller bakeries, wholesale and retail, HoReCa, packaging and ice cream.
The visitors were highly satisfied with the variety of represented products and information. It is also worth to mention that for 87 percent of the visitors the trade fair is of highest significance. The vast majority has already confirmed their participation in Modern Bakery Moscow 2015, which will take place April 22 - 24, 2015.
The diverse supporting programme of the exhibition was also positively appraised by the visitors.
New this year: the plenary session. Here, famous Russian and international representatives of associations and politics reported about the future and the challenges of the Russian bakery and confectionery industry. New as well, the seminars "Bakery of the 21st century -- concept and business development" and "Wafers and ingredients for ice-cream production", this was organized in cooperation with the Association of Russian ice-cream producers. Speakers from companies such as Mec -3, CFT Haas, Stern Ingredients, Best Italy and Walterwerk Kiel reported there.
Diosna and Miwe, the strategic sponsors of the exhibition held special workshops. The topics were "Business models of baking -- MIWE smart engineering" and "Industrial solutions for the classical dough processing".
Saf- Neva / Lesaffre held a seminar with the topic "Russian bakery -- new formats -- promising solutions for business: from raw-materials to sales". Important topics such as supply chain management, marketing, logistics but also increasing the shelf-life of finished products were discussed here.
The seminar on cooling and refrigeration, which took place for the fourth time in cooperation with Mr. Grahn (GfB) received lots of positive feedback from the visitors. Speakers from companies such as Heinen Freezing, JBT Foodtech, Koma, Lillnord, Miwe, Revent, Wachtel, Wiesheu and WP informed about the latest technologies within this promising industry segment.
Another highlight of the anniversary event was the first Moscow Confectionery Art Cup, supported by Mr. Robert Oppeneder (pastry chef and owner of the company Sweet Art), the President of the Russian Chefs Association Mr. Victor Belyaev and the pastry chef Elena Suchkova (owner of the Russian chocolate school).
During three exhibition days the participants competed in four different categories: 'best sugar showpiece', 'best chocolate showpiece', 'best young confectioner' and 'best confectioner'.
The visitors were also impressed by the master classes of Switzerland's leading centre of excellence for bakery and confectionery, Richemont. The bakers daily demonstrated the art of baking typical Swiss bread like polenta bread, buckwheat bread or crescent roll.
The next Modern Bakery Moscow will take place from April, 22-24, 2015 at the Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow.
