St. Louis Airport Hotel Receives Award for Charity Fundraising

The Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel Raised Over $21,000 for Give Kids the World, Benefitting Families in Need Locally and Across the Country

ST LOUIS, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/06/14 -- Officials of the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel announced today that the hotel received Davidson Hotels & Resorts' Give Kids the World award for "Most Money Raised in 2013," benefitting Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

The award was presented by executives of Davidson Hotels & Resorts, the hotel's management company, at their recent 2014 Annual Leadership Conference. This is the third consecutive year the St. Louis airport hotel has won this award, having raised over $21,000 in 2013 alone. Two team members from the award winning hotel were invited to accompany executives of Davidson to Give Kids the World's annual Black and White Gala held, May 3, at the Hyatt Orlando, FL.

"I think it is important that we give back to our local and national communities as much as we can," said Michael Sanders, general manager for the prominent business hotel in St. Louis. "Give Kids the World is a nonprofit 'storybook' Village in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. It doesn't take much to make a difference."

The majority of donations raised in 2013 were from a 120-mile fundraising trip down the Missouri River called "Float for Hope." The hotel staff built a replica of a Lewis and Clark style flat bottom boat and the hotel's management company and leadership team served as navigators. The St. Louis Airport luxury hotel is well on their way in raising funds for this year. They recently held their Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the historic Normandie Golf Club in St. Louis, the oldest public golf course still in operation in its original location, west of the Mississippi River, where they raised $10,000 to benefit Give Kids the World. Other planned events in 2014 include Pancake Breakfast, Ice Cream for Breakfast, bake sales, payroll deductions, parking spot raffle and a car wash.
