LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 06/09/14 -- Reality TV behemoth Big Brother returned for its 15th instalment last week. Complete with interactive LED walls, touchpads and identity scanners; the famous Big Brother house has been given a power-themed refit.
Re-launched and re-branded as Big Brother: Power Trip, the series has taken in another 16 fame-hungry contestants who will be given the opportunity to earn power and control to exert over their fellow housemates.
In stark contrast to last year house's natural, organic theme, this year's decor is designed to promote a sense of control. The interior designers of the show employed the help of furniture suppliers FADS to furnish the house in a minimalistic style with a dystopian flair.
The minimalistic fittings in the house combine modern, chic design with a psychological edge. Small backed sofas have been implemented to ensure that housemates cannot physically sit back and relax whilst fellow housemates exert power. The faces of the contestants will be displayed on the house's interior walls to further keep the housemates on their toes.
Contestant Pauline Bennett has been the first recipient of Big Brother's goodwill and been granted power to wield over her fellow housemates. This power has come in the form of party invitations. Big Brother has thrown Pauline a number of parties during the opening days of the show and granted her limited number of invitations to hand out to her favourite housemates.
The newly re-branded series was introduced by the teaser trailer depicting presenters Emma Willis and Rylan Clarke being waited on in a futuristic, dystopian high rise building.
The 16 new contestants were forced to sit and submit an IQ test before entering the house and will have access to social media channels. This will ensure that they are able to monitor and read what the general public are writing about them at all times.
