FindYourArtSchool.com Finds Photographic Talent -- and More

Photo, Fashion and Design Contests Receive Nearly Seven Hundred Submissions, Awarding Finalists up to $1,000 in Cash Prizes

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/10/14 -- It is said a picture is worth a thousand words. But what happens when a picture is worth a thousand dollars?

That prize money -- and smaller denominations ranging from $100 to $400 -- is what's at stake for the nearly 700 finalists who participated in a recently concluded arts education contest sponsored by FindYourArtSchool.com, a leader in assisting students research and apply to the top higher education art schools and programs in the United States.

The photo contest accompanied writing and fashion design contests open to students around the country. Although entries were accepted throughout the winter and many submissions featured winter themes, selection topics were deliberately broad to promote a full range of artistic expression. Likewise students could submit 500- to 750-word articles that reviewed a selection of photographs and paintings while design entries ranged from contemporary outfits and dresses to outerwear that evoked more of a retro look.

In the Eyes of the Beholder
Whether capturing shivering icicles on a tree branch following a Michigan ice storm or snapping a worms-eye view of the replica Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas or discovering a dying rose speckled with perfectly spherical water droplets, all entries, no matter their category, speak to the importance of creative individuals and how unique talents help humanity take notice of the world around.

"Although the entry window for all three contests has ended, the FindYourArtSchool staff has plenty to keep us occupied as we select first, second and third place entries," said FindYourArtSchool's Founder and CEO. "While prize awards are a fun way to entice cash-strapped students, the contest also serves a fundamental purpose -- raising awareness as to the vital services creative people provide."

That sentiment and commitment to artistic individuality lies at the heart of what FindYourArtSchool.com seeks to achieve: an organization created by artists, for artists. More than a Google-like search engine for the nation's top art schools and programs, San Francisco-headquartered FindYourArtSchool.com goes one step further, by directly linking members of our staff with prospective students, counseling them on the schools, courses and geographic regions that best match their needs and anticipates their future artistic growth. Navigating the difficult waters of financial planning and student loans is also central to the organization's mission and along with the rest of our organization, benefits from over thirty years combined industry experience.

The Time Is (Still) Now
Early June is graduation season, meaning many students are struggling even more fervently to find a place to study in the upcoming fall. Encouragingly arts schools, universities and colleges are well aware of this fact. A growing number of institutions offer fall admission deadlines as late as August 1. That means there's nearly 100 days left to make those final decisions, especially for applicants caught between two excellent choices or more. Whether it's New York, Florida, California, Puerto Rico or the many states in between, hundreds of schools across the country are aggressively looking to complete their class of 2018 rosters.

"Pursuing an artistic career path is as precious to the nourishment of the nation's soul as all its precious metals are to international trade," added the Founder of FindYourArtSchool.com. "Whether it's brick-and-mortar institutions or online programs, I encourage all students interested in making art their livelihood to visit our website, begin using our state-of-the-art matching engine and leave the hard work to us."

What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...
We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management. For example, if you have an existing service – possibly built on a variety of different PaaS/SaaS offerings – and you want to add real-time communications you are faced with a challenge relating to user management, authentication, authorization, and validation. Service providers will w...

The term culture has had a polarizing effect among DevOps supporters. Some propose that culture change is critical for success with DevOps, but are remiss to define culture. Some talk about a DevOps culture but then reference activities that could lead to culture change and there are those that talk about culture change as a set of behaviors that need to be adopted by those in IT. There is no question that businesses successful in adopting a DevOps mindset have seen departmental culture change, ...
Explosive growth in connected devices. Enormous amounts of data for collection and analysis. Critical use of data for split-second decision making and actionable information. WebRTC defines no default signaling protocol, causing fragmentation between WebRTC silos. SIP and XMPP provide possibilities, but come with considerable complexity and are not designed for use in a web environment. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Matthew Hodgson, technical co-founder of the Matrix.org, discussed how Matrix is a new non-profit Open Source Project that defines both a new HTTP-based standard for VoIP & IM signaling and provides reference implementations.
