AES Corporation Unveils New Product for Maximizing Performance of Fire Alarm Communications, at NFPA

AES Corporation, the leading manufacturer of long-range private wireless communications equipment, today announced the AES Local Annunciator, a new offering that helps alarm companies optimize the performance of AES-IntelliNet mesh networks. AES is showcasing the product at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Conference & Expo, taking place June 9 – 12, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“As companies struggle to address the communications problems caused by failed POTS lines and sunsetting 2G cellular technology, they’re increasingly turning to AES,” said Tom Kenty, Vice President and General Manager of the Americas for AES Corporation. “By using our operator-owned, private mesh radio networks and UL-listed, NFPA-compliant fire alarm communications products, customers get a highly reliable solution with no obsoleting technologies or monthly telecommunications fees. Now, with the AES Local Annunciator, we’re making it even easier to ensure continuously high performance.”

The AES Local Annunciator Model 7740 helps facility managers more quickly respond to service requirements by providing local visual and audio annunciation for any trouble signals reported by an AES Fire Subscriber. The product is UL-listed and satisfies NFPA-72 code without requiring hardwiring of J4 trouble signals to a Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). This solution prevents J4-related network transmission loops between the subscriber and FACP, and thus enhances and improves overall network performance. The Local Annunciator can be powered from a UL 864 FACP or UL 1481 power supply.

The AES Local Annunciator is available immediately as a standalone component.

NFPA attendees can view AES fire monitoring solutions at AES booth #424. To learn more, attend the session, “AES- IntelliNet Private Communications Networks Deliver Superior Safety and Profitability,” presented by John Milliron, Vice President of Sales, North America for AES Corporation, on June 11 at 11:00am, at the Exhibitor Presentation Theatre in the Exhibit Hall.

Container technology is sending shock waves through the world of cloud computing. Heralded as the 'next big thing,' containers provide software owners a consistent way to package their software and dependencies while infrastructure operators benefit from a standard way to deploy and run them. Containers present new challenges for tracking usage due to their dynamic nature. They can also be deployed to bare metal, virtual machines and various cloud platforms. How do software owners track the usag...
