Carmike Cinemas Celebrates Manitowoc 10 Grand Opening Weekend Starting June 12

Carmike Cinemas, Inc. (NASDAQ:CKEC), a leading entertainment, digital cinema and 3-D motion picture exhibitor, today announced the grand opening of the Manitowoc 10 entertainment complex featuring its BigD premium large format (PLF) experience. The theatre is located on the west side of town, just off I-43 and south of Harbor Town. The facility officially opens at 8:00 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, June 12. To help celebrate its debut weekend, the Manitowoc 10 will feature the finest in Hollywood big-screen entertainment, including two highly anticipated new release sequels.

Carmike is also pleased to offer Manitowoc guests a free Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain drink (any size) to all ticket purchasers through close of business Sunday night (June 15). Additional (unless otherwise noted) promotions at this location include:

Free Popcorn Tuesdays – for all Carmike Rewards customers (for a limited time only)

Stimulus Tuesday – $2 popcorn and $2 fountain drinks with ticket purchase

Super Bargain Matinee – $5.75 admission prices for all movies between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm. Standard surcharges for BigD, 3-D and special showings apply.

This new 10-plex has seating for over 1,700 guests and a state-of-the-art BigD auditorium. The BigD experience will offer plush leather seating to accommodate nearly 360 patrons, an impressive wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling screen measuring more than 60 feet wide by three stories tall. The additional auditoriums will also have large, wall-to-wall screens, stadium seating, comfortable high-back rocking luxury seats, retractable armrests and convenient cup holders. There’s an upscale lobby featuring multiple concession areas, Coca-Cola Freestyle drink centers and single-point ticketing so filmgoers can happily escape the elements. Having just one line is a popular amenity, enabling guests to purchase their tickets and favorite concessions items while they move quickly to their comfortable seats. The new complex also provides special services for visually and hearing impaired patrons using Sony Closed Captioning glasses (CC) as well as descriptive and amplified audio (VI & HI).

“At each and every Carmike location we are focused on bringing our valued guests the ultimate entertainment experience through state-of-the-art 2-D, 3-D and premium large format digital projection featuring bigger screens, better sound, and the finest in-theatre seating. Together these ultimate amenities ensure a cutting-edge cinematic presentation each and every time,” stated David Passman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Carmike Cinemas. “We are extremely pleased to bring this exceptional new entertainment complex to Manitowoc and the surrounding communities.”

In addition to the BigD screen’s large dimensions, the auditorium also includes a custom QSC digital audio system tuned to a 7.1 speaker array with 16 channels, upgradeable to 11.1 surround sound. The system features digital audio processing supported by quad-amplified, 4-way speakers, and 21-inch subwoofers. The BigD is powered by a cutting-edge Christie Brilliant 3-D flash projector, which also presents 2-D entertainment. The end result is a light output of 30,000 lumens, creating a picture quality with noticeably higher resolution than HD.
