DURHAM, NC -- (Marketwired) -- 06/16/14 -- Mi-Corporation, the Mobile Information Corporation, today announced that Doyle Security Systems, Inc. continues to realize improved expense control and significant productivity gains following the first four months using its new digital sales order entry system. Mi-Co also awarded Doyle Security Systems, Inc. the "Mi-Corporation Process Improvement Champion" award after successfully moving its entire paper-based sales order entry system to a digital system using Mi-Forms mobile forms software on iPads.
The new system allows Doyle Security Systems to electronically capture and seamlessly integrate data, including electronic signature captures, into document imaging, and core back-end systems. It also provides automatic generation of contracts, and system inspection and test documentation.
With five branch offices including its headquarters in Rochester, NY, Doyle Security Systems provides commercial, residential, and medical alarm systems to more than 23,000 customers in the upstate New York and Erie, Pa. regions. Its 100 employees that design, install, service, and monitor these systems require immediate access to customer and system data to ensure its security and life safety systems are properly working 24/7.
Based on the implementation of the new system, Doyle Security System has realized a number of key benefits including:
- improved billing efficiencies & closing of new business,
- real-time reporting,
- significant cost savings,
- expense reductions, as well as
- improved customer loyalty and perceptions of Doyle Security Systems as a technology company.
"Among others, core to our company values are customer satisfaction, excellence and accountability," said Kevin J. Stone, chief operating officer, Doyle Security Systems, Inc. "Our business has grown such that we needed to eliminate any possibility of misplaced paperwork that might impede customer service, and reduce cumbersome orders, and re-keying of critical customer data in our sales order processing. The entirety of the mobile forms platform and software offered by Mi-Co provides us with the comprehensive solution needed to ensure customer satisfaction with accurate data collection, efficient order taking, and improved process cycle time and communication between departments."
Doyle Security Systems, Inc.'s former sales order system was cumbersome and inefficient. It used pre-printed paper forms for new customer orders, and required re-keying of critical customer data used to populate back-end accounting and monitoring systems. Employees spent time manually scanning documents, and searching for lost order/contract forms, which in turn drove up operational expenses from lost productivity and reduced revenue due to service activation delays.
Mi-Co Benefits Doyle Security Systems
Accurate and efficient data capture is critical to Doyle Security Systems' sales order and customer service, including pricing, pricing approval, contract preparation, order installation, and account activation for monitoring. The company selected Mi-Forms mobile forms software to provide mobile forms for order documentation -- customer and system information collection, and order specification details related to parts, labor, contractors, etc.
Within the first four months of use, Doyle Security Systems experienced cost reductions and measureable productivity improvements of about 5% and expects to see this grow substantially. Capturing data electronically at the source has dramatically improved data accuracy, which has reduced the order approval and processing time from days or weeks to just hours.
According to Mi-Corporation's VP of Sales & Marketing, Gautham Pandiyan, "We worked closely with Doyle Security to customize a mobile data capture solution that allows its sales representatives to capture critical information close to the source using iPads to record orders. While the order processing system is complex due to its integration with critical back-end systems -- finance and accounting, service, and parts -- the entire process appears seamless to both customers and sales personnel who serve as the front-line representatives to what is now viewed as a cutting-edge technology company providing safety and security of the utmost level."
Devon Ritch of Doyle Security Systems recently shared the benefits of deploying Mi-Co's solutions along with other customers who attended and presented at Mi-Co's Annual Mobility Summit. Video testimonials appear here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBXqKNxs85I&list=UUFsuPKcXSHX27LA8jfX7_vQ

What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...

We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management. For example, if you have an existing service – possibly built on a variety of different PaaS/SaaS offerings – and you want to add real-time communications you are faced with a challenge relating to user management, authentication, authorization, and validation. Service providers will w...

The term culture has had a polarizing effect among DevOps supporters. Some propose that culture change is critical for success with DevOps, but are remiss to define culture. Some talk about a DevOps culture but then reference activities that could lead to culture change and there are those that talk about culture change as a set of behaviors that need to be adopted by those in IT. There is no question that businesses successful in adopting a DevOps mindset have seen departmental culture change, ...

WebRTC defines no default signaling protocol, causing fragmentation between WebRTC silos. SIP and XMPP provide possibilities, but come with considerable complexity and are not designed for use in a web environment. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Matthew Hodgson, technical co-founder of the Matrix.org, discussed how Matrix is a new non-profit Open Source Project that defines both a new HTTP-based standard for VoIP & IM signaling and provides reference implementations.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is nothing if not an endless proliferation of details. It's the vision of a world in which continuous Internet connectivity and addressability is embedded into a growing range of human artifacts, into the natural world, and even into our smartphones, appliances, a...
