Virginia Premier Health Plan is working with TracFone Wireless, Inc. and Voxiva, Inc. to improve the health and satisfaction of their members by providing access to free cell phones and health texting services. SafeLink Health Solutions®, a TracFone brand, has been designed to help Medicaid health plans engage and support members in taking an active role in their health.
“Working with TracFone and Voxiva to offer these innovative health programs will break down barriers and improve overall member health,” said Carl Gattuso, chief corporate officer of the VCU Health System. “We are committed to providing quality healthcare. Increasing member communication and engagement will help us do that even more.”
Eligible members receive a free cell phone with 250 monthly minutes, unlimited text messaging and free calls to member services. Members are also offered Voxiva's suite of mobile health programs for adult health and wellness (Txt4health), and maternal and child health (Text4baby and Text4kids). These text message-based programs educate and support members, encouraging them to follow recommended guidelines for preventive care, vaccinations and screenings; and informing them about health plan services and benefits.
Voxiva has developed these programs specifically with health plans in mind, placing an emphasis on improving key quality measures (HEDIS and EPSDT) and increasing member retention. Independent evaluations of the services demonstrate improved outcomes on key quality measures, such as appointment attendance and timely immunizations.
“Voxiva is a global pioneer in developing services that improve the health of expectant and new moms, children, adults and individuals living with diabetes,” said Paul Meyer, Chairman & President, Voxiva. “We look forward to offering our programs to Virginia Premier members and helping them improve their health at no cost to them or the plan,” concluded Meyer.
“TracFone is proud to be a part of Virginia Premier’s approach towards improving the health and wellness of its members,” said F.J. Pollak, President and CEO of TracFone. “Through health alerts, members will now gain control of their own health which will result in less hospital admissions and illness. We are honored to work with Virginia Premier and help serve Virginia with the care and quality everyone deserves,” concluded Pollak.
Founded in 2001, Voxiva is a global pioneer in delivering interactive mobile health services to help people live the healthiest life possible. The company's Care4life product portfolio combines evidence-based health guidelines, state-of-the-art behavior change expertise and digital technology to promote maternal & child health, adult health & wellness, smoking cessation and diabetes self-management. Personalized health information is sent via text messaging, mobile web and mobile applications.
TracFone Wireless is a subsidiary of América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V. ("AMX") (BMV: AMX; NYSE: AMX; NASDAQ: AMOV; LATIBEX: XAMXL), the 5th largest cell phone company in the world and the largest in all of the Americas with more than 236 million wireless subscribers.
