Alion Named an Awardee of the DoD IACs’ DS TAT MAC Valued at up to $3 Billion

Ensuring that the US military is supported by the most advanced, effective technologies and tools is critical to the nation’s defense. To meet this need, Alion Science and Technology, a global engineering, technology and operational solutions company, was awarded a contract valued at up to $3 billion to compete for work supporting essential technical solutions by the Department of Defense Information Analysis Centers (DoD IACs).

Under the contract, Alion will compete for technical tasks that include research & development, test & evaluation and advisory services. The Defense Systems Technical Area Task Multiple Award Contract (DS TAT MAC) replaces six Information Analysis Center (IAC) contracts. The IACs were designed as central sources for specific technical knowledge and expertise. Alion operates two of the IACs, which focus on advanced materials and manufacturing and weapon systems technology. These key areas, along with four others, are now included in the scope of the DS TAT MAC, covering Autonomous Systems; Directed Energy; Energetics; Military Sensing; Non-Lethal Weapons and Information Operations; Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Supportability, and Interoperability; and Survivability and Vulnerability.

“This new contract provides numerous opportunities for both Alion and our customers,” explained Rob Hirt, Alion Senior Sector Vice President. “We will continue to bring our long-standing expertise in materials, manufacturing and weapon systems development and integration to support the DoD’s goals. But now we can also help enhance the military’s capabilities in several other areas, assisting them in meeting both near and long-term challenges with effective, practical solutions.”

A cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price contract, DS TAT MAC has a five year period of performance. Tasks can run for five years, with one base year and four one-year options.

The DoD IACs, administered by the Defense Technical Information Center, operate a portfolio of task order contracts for technical research and analysis. For more information, visit the DoD IACs’ website at http://iac.dtic.mil.
