Toronto, ON--(Marketwired - June 25, 2014) - Laser hair removal is in the top five sought after non-surgical procedures and continues to grow in popularity. With major advancements in the laser hair removal field, patients can now benefit from shorter, almost painless treatments and can take advantage of the lower costs associated with laser hair removal. Though the procedure is fast, there is a high standard of efficacy and safety.
Dr. Stephen Mulholland, a Toronto plastic surgeon and a leading pioneer in the field of aesthetic medicine, explains these new advancements in a recent interview featured on Canada's Breakfast Television and Global National News.
Dr. Mulholland, a Toronto cosmetic surgeon and owner of SpaMedica Plastic Surgery Centre and Medical Spa, confirms that these advancements in laser hair removal allow physicians to treat large zones quickly and safe. "Our technology allows us to treat a man's back and chest or a woman's legs and arms with super high speed, comfort and improved permanent reduction. Laser hair removal devices such as the Cynosure Vectus, Lumenis LightSheer Duet and the InMode Diolaze are effective and almost painless. These advanced devices ensure desirable permanent reduction quickly with less discomfort than ever before," explains Dr. Mulholland.
Typically, patients will receive five to six treatments in total. The first three to four treatments are performed with high speed diodes. The last two or three treatments use smaller sized lasers, 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm NdYAG laser. The latter treatments ensure the removal of any remaining hairs, leading to a high percentage of permanent hair reduction and maximized results.
In patients with light or brown skin and dark hair, laser hair removal treatments can lead to 85% or greater permanent hair reduction.
"After a series of laser hair removal treatments, a patient can be free of shaving, waxing, plucking or electrolysis for the rest of their life," says Dr. Mulholland.
The high speed diodes each have a unique method of reducing pain, making the treatment of large zones comfortable. Considering the advancements in the speed of the lasers, patients now benefit from more affordable pricing options.
A series of five treatments for removing unwanted hair on the whole body can be performed for under $1,000.
Now that laser hair removal is more affordable and advanced, more patients want treatments at clinics and are looking to ditch their razors. "There will always be a role for shaving or waxing, but women or men can quickly and affordably treat their unwanted hair with a laser both safely and effectively," says Dr. Mulholland.
