Just in Time for Fourth of July, New StockUp App Makes It Easy for Consumers to Find the Best Prices on Everyday Grocery and Household Items

Finding all the items on your grocery list at the best price has been a nearly impossible and painful process, until now. Today, StockUp is changing the way consumers shop with the launch of a mobile app that empowers consumers to make educated decisions when shopping for groceries and other everyday goods. Built to help busy shoppers save time and money, StockUp enables users to not only search for their favorite products at local stores but to also see which nearby stores are offering the best deals and sale prices – 90 percent of which go unadvertised.

As an app built for – and powered by – shoppers who hate wasting time and money, StockUp’s product database and prices are crowd-sourced and provide real-time information on more than 500,000 unique common grocery and household products at more than 125,000 stores across the U.S. so far. StockUp has found that brick and mortar stores can offer prices up to 40 percent lower than online retailers for individual items or even entire shopping lists of goods, presenting a significant cost-savings opportunity for consumers who choose to shop locally. What’s more, the price of any given product can differ by up to 35 percent at various local stores, and because so many sale prices go unadvertised, it’s nearly impossible to find the best deal.

“Up until now, there just simply wasn’t a way for consumers to research the best prices in their area. They’ve been at the mercy of retailers, who only share information on the sales they want you to know about, not the tons of other discounts being given throughout the store,” said Neil Kataria, founder and CEO of StockUp. “StockUp solves this problem by helping customers in every U.S. city share information about prices and availability, and research what store best meets their needs before leaving home. Having the power to peek into local stores from your smartphone and see who is carrying your favorite products and at a great price is one of the most satisfying feelings –one that we’re looking forward to building a community around so we can give consumers everywhere a more informed and rewarding shopping experience.”

Coming out of a six-month beta period, StockUp continues to rely on its ever-expanding community to keep its database of products and prices growing. Each time a user contributes a new price for their favorite product, the community benefits and the user earns points that can be redeemed for cash rewards.

One way to earn extra points and rewards is by participating in weekly activations with StockUp’s partner brands, including The Coca-Cola Company, the world's largest beverage company, which is launching a multifaceted strategic partnership with StockUp today. Consumers will now be challenged to add prices for Coca-Cola products in their area to earn double rewards points. With StockUp, Coca-Cola can now connect directly with its customers via their smartphones all the way through to the checkout aisle at their local retailer. Brands are excited about working with StockUp because it is the first app to put the power of online search into the hands of consumers looking offline for products, resulting in added brand interaction and customer convenience.

Behind the scenes, StockUp leverages advanced data algorithms – designed by its elite team of engineers – to forecast pricing trends and sale predictions.

StockUp’s other key features include:

  • Search and Scan: Search by name or scan the barcode of products in your pantry to find the best prices on your favorite products, brands or even full grocery lists based on your current location
  • Location-Enabled Sale Alerts: Save items to your “Favorites” list, and StockUp will alert you when those items go on sale so you can stock up for less
  • Collaborative Shopping Lists: Build and save shopping lists with your spouse, colleagues or roommates so you can effectively divide and conquer based on price and location comparisons

To get started, download the StockUp app for free from the Apple or Google Play stores. For more information, please visit http://stockup.co.
