TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/26/14 -- Canadians from coast to coast to coast are invited to help choose the nation's most significant front page news stories from the past 150 years for the national Front Pages Competition. This one-time competition is being held by Newspapers Canada in partnership with PEI 2014 in recognition of the sesquicentennial anniversary of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which paved the way to Confederation.
The historic competition will recognize 150 years of newspaper stories representing a range of significant and uniquely Canadian events, issues and people. The public will be able to select their favourite entries in eight unique categories: Canadian Communities; Canada on the International Stage; Canada at War; Canadian Heroes; Canadian Arts/Culture/Entertainment; Canadian Science and Technology; Canadian Sports; and Canadian Politics.
Public voting is open throughout the summer from Monday, June 30 to Friday, August 22. The winning front-page news stories will be announced in September and will be honoured in a special online archive.
