UPDATE - SSP America Awarded $80 Million Contract at Sacramento International's Terminal A

SSP's Second Contract Win to Include Local Favorites Cafeteria 15L, Squeeze Inn and Paesanos

LANSDOWNE, VA--(Marketwired - June 26, 2014) - SSP America, the North American division of SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a 10 year, $80 million contract at Sacramento International Airport's Terminal A. The contract will see SSP develop 6 units over 8,000 sq. ft. and introduce a mix of local as well as well-known national brands and SSP own creations.

The win follows the success of SSP's $6 million investment at the airport's newly opened Terminal B where it operates seven units.

Commenting on the win, Pat Murray, Executive Vice-President of SSP America, noted, "We are delighted to continue and now expand the success of our operations with our partners at Sacramento International. Passengers have been giving us rave reviews about our offerings at Terminal B and we are thrilled to be introducing even more, unique local stars of the Sacramento community to Terminal A. Sacramento has a deeply rich culinary culture, and we're excited to be showcasing a true taste of this beautiful region to the passengers of SMF."

Sacramento International Airport was recently recognized on its own global stage for the second year in a row, ranking fourth in North America for customer service by the Airports Council International's prestigious Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. The recognition underlines the airport's commitment to creating the best, most 'flier-friendly' passenger experience for its nearly nine million annual passengers.

John Wheat, Director of Airports for the Sacramento County Department of Airports commented on the contract, "We are excited about our new agreement with SSP and look forward to offering customers in Terminal A the same kind of unique, local dining experience as customers in Terminal B."

Most existing restaurants in Terminal A will cease operating on July 31. During construction of the new restaurants, expected to be open in late spring of 2015, SSP will operate temporary restaurants offering hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches and coffee.

SSP America's mix includes both local and nationally recognized brands with notable local restaurateurs on board to guarantee the food served is identical to their well-known street side locations.

Mason Wong's Cafeteria 15L is a comfort-cool, chic urban kitchen known to locals for its "Good Food. Good Friends. Good Times." Following the same recipe for success that Cafeteria 15L has enjoyed at Terminal B, the full service menu at Terminal A will offer simple, traditional dishes, created with a twist designed to evoke the emotion and comfort of a home-cooked meal.

"We have enjoyed a great relationship with SSP and the travelers at Terminal B, and look forward to sharing great food and hospitality in Terminal A in 2015," said restaurateur Mason Wong, co-owner of Firestone Public House, The Park Downtown, M!X, Cafeteria 15L and Ma Jong's in downtown Sacramento. "This new venture will expand the local feel at the airport, offering travelers from all over the world a taste of our city."

Heralded by Food Network king, Guy Fieri, as "One of the best burgers in America," Squeeze Inn burgers earn every ounce of praise. A bona fide Sacramento institution, owner, Travis Hausauer, will ensure that Squeeze Inn lives up to its admiration at Terminal A. Hausauer commented on the new venture, "My wife, Vicki, and I are very excited to have the opportunity to bring Squeeze Inn to our friends and visitors to SMF's Terminal A. Passengers will soon realize just how awesome it is to get one of the best burgers in America during their stop at Sacramento International Airport!"

Messy, juicy, tasty -- locals revel about the Squeeze with Cheese burger's "skirt" of cheese and the necessity of two hands and five napkins when you eat one. Passengers can grab one to go and make every fellow traveler on the plane green with food envy.

Known as the "go-to" in Midtown's Handle District, Paesanos' owners Dave Virga and Mark Scribner are known for delighting their guests with great Italian fare at recession-proof prices. Paesanos' co-owner, Dave Virga, enthused, "We are excited and honored to be given the opportunity to bring Paesanos to the new and improved Terminal A at Sacramento International Airport. As a member of the local dining scene for more than 18 years, we are thrilled to be counted among the other fine local eateries represented in Terminal A."

Since its inception in 1966 with a single small shop at Walnut and Vine in Berkeley, Peet's Coffee & Tea has stood the test of time, both for the loyalty of its customers and for the devotion of its proprietors, who continue to abide by the principles of the late Alfred Peet.

Erica Brown, Senior Director - Wholesale & Licensing Division commented, "Peet's Coffee & Tea is thrilled to bring on additional locations at Sacramento International Airport. Our expanded presence further highlights our strong partnership with SSP, and our commitment to bring Peet's premium, quality coffee to more airline travelers across the US." All coffee beans arriving at SMF will have been roasted within the week, and for tea enthusiasts, Peet's offers a thoughtful selection of high-quality herbal, certified organic and rare teas.

Matthew Corrin's Freshii challenges the world to eat foods that not only taste great and are nutritious, but also provide the energy needed to live life to the fullest and on the go -- perfect for the busy travelers at Terminal A. Offering a menu of salads, burritos, wraps, rice bowls, breakfast and soups made with high-quality, fresh ingredients, Freshii is paving the way for a new segment of 'health-casual' dining. Freshii encourages passengers at SMF to take the Freshii challenge: Eat. Energize.

SSP's own, industry acclaimed UrbanCrave, offers passengers authentic street food in a straight forward, no frills environment. Not intended for the timid, UrbanCrave will serve up "bites from the edge" including its ever popular 8oz fresh ground chuck burgers, Cowboy Fries, and Harbor Tacos made with beer battered cod. Travelers are encouraged to pull up a stool, order some grub and wash it down with a Brown Bag Special -- a tall, cool brew served in a paper bag.

Most restaurants will be located airside, post security, at Terminal A. The terminal serves Delta Air Lines, jetBlue Airways, United and US Airways.
