Front Street Capital Charitable Foundation's 2014 Summer Solstice Fundraiser Exceeds Expectations: $280,000 Raised

Proceeds to Benefit St. Joseph's Health Centre's Just for Kids Clinic

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/27/14 -- Earlier this month, Front Street Capital Charitable Foundation hosted their 4th annual Summer Solstice white party, benefiting the Just for Kids Clinic at St. Joseph's Health Centre, on June 19th. Hundreds of professionals from Toronto's financial industry came out in their summer whites to rub shoulders with the inspiring doctors, nurses and hospital staff from St Joe's. Held at the Liberty Grand in Exhibition Place, guests were treated to tropical decor and theme, giving the evening the feel of an island party. The weather cooperated, allowing the guests to enjoy the Liberty Grand's outdoor courtyard to the backdrop of a Caribbean steel band.

The party raised more than $280,000, exceeding expectations and continuing a record of success, with Front Street's Summer Solstice events now having raised more than $900,000 since their first party in 2010. Thanks to generous sponsorship from both organizations and individuals, proceeds grew by approximately 25% over last year's event. The funds raised will complete the expansion of the Just for Kids Clinic, and enable St. Joe's pediatricians to see more kids - faster - in a newly renovated Just for Kids Clinic. Parents turned to the Clinic more than 11,000 times last year, when their children needed care.

Other highlights included Porsches on display from Pfaff Porsche, music by DJ Louis of the DJ Emporium, a self-serve candy bar courtesy of ITCI, and bottled water and hot dogs for the road, provided by Paradigm Capital and Salman Partners. Front Street Capital Charitable Foundation offered thanks to the generous sponsors who helped make the evening a success, including:

DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support. With recent technological advances from Isomorphic Software and others, it is now feasible to create a rich desktop and tuned mobile experience with a single codebase, without compromising performance or usability.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is causing data centers to become radically decentralized and atomized within a new paradigm known as “fog computing.” To support IoT applications, such as connected cars and smart grids, data centers' core functions will be decentralized out to the network's edges and endpoints (aka “fogs”). As this trend takes hold, Big Data analytics platforms will focus on high-volume log analysis (aka “logs”) and rely heavily on cognitive-computing algorithms (aka “cogs”) to mak...
