Soundhawk Founder Dr. Rodney Perkins Recognized as the Consumer Electronics Association's "Innovator of the Week"

CUPERTINO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/27/14 -- Soundhawk today announced that the company's founder, noted serial entrepreneur Dr. Rodney Perkins, has been recognized as the Consumer Electronics Association's (CEA) "Innovator of the Week".

Dr. Perkins is a leading expert in hearing health, having founded the California Ear Institute at Stanford in 1968 and taught ontology at Stanford's School of Medicine for decades. While Dr. Perkins started his career as an ear surgeon, he quickly became one of the world's most successful life sciences entrepreneurs. He has started 12 companies, four of which are in the hearing sciences and three of which are now publicly traded. These include ReSound, one of the world's largest hearing aid manufacturers, and Collagen Corporation.

Dr. Perkins's dedication to improving the quality of life for millions of people led to the inspiration, development and formation of Soundhawk and the company's Smart Listening System, which helps anyone communicate better and hear the world the way they want to. The company recently opened preorders on its website and announced the full capabilities of the Smart Listening System here.

As a physician, Dr. Perkins realized there were limits to the number of patients he could help. As a result, he began to apply his knowledge and creativity to building products and companies that could have a much broader impact. The CEA recognition highlights this story of dedication, leadership and innovation -- a remarkable one that spans decades. Now at 78 years old, Dr. Perkins continues to keep busy developing life-changing devices, working with multiple life sciences companies and continuing to lecture at Stanford.
