Apartment List, the fastest-growing rental marketplace with nearly 3 million monthly visits, today announced the launch of Look, the first-ever immersive service that instantly transports renters into prospective apartments at any location. Addressing one of the biggest pain points in apartment hunting – vetting and touring a unit – Look eliminates the need to be physically present to explore an apartment. This means big time savings for renters, as more than half typically need to visit four or more properties before making a decision, with more than 20 percent of renters visiting seven or more places before finding a rental to call home.
Now more than ever, people are relying on their mobile devices out of convenience for just about everything – including searching for a place to live. Look now enables prospective tenants to explore rentals at their fingertips, saving a significant amount of time while providing a better overall experience for both renters and landlords. With “beyond 360 degree” views of not only the rental itself, but also of its floors, ceilings, building exteriors and community amenities, Look produces a convincing sense of actually being inside a unit without ever stepping through the door.
“From blurry images to incomplete rental descriptions, the existing rental search process is still broken,” said John Kobs, CEO of Apartment List. “We don’t want people to miss out on a place they might love because of a faulty process or misleading photos and descriptions. That’s why we created Look – to instantly take the surprise out of the apartment search and allow renters to know a place is ‘home’ before even stepping foot inside.”
Initially launching with more than 30,000 units in the buildings photographed to date, Look is live in New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Denver and Chicago.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Apartment List is at the forefront of reinventing the rental marketplace. After launching its first mobile app just over a year ago, two-thirds of Apartment List’s traffic today comes from mobile devices. Look is the next step in the company’s focus on mobile expansion. This vision of touring prospective rentals, contacting landlords, signing contracts and paying rent all directly through the mobile app will further promote trust and transparency for all parties involved in the rental process.
