The Government of Canada has announced an investment of $10,000, under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, in support of the 69th edition of the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games. This funding will allow the Festival to present performances and heritage demonstrations highlighting the culture and heritage of Scotland.
The Honourable Michael Chong, Member of Parliament (Wellington-Halton Hills), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
-- The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games is a celebration of culture and history focusing on dancing, piping, clans, and family fun. -- The Festival will be held from August 8 to 10, 2014, in Fergus, Ontario. -- The first edition of the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games was held in 1946. The Festival is now a seven-decades-long tradition in the area.
