RANDOLPH, NJ -- (Marketwired) -- 07/09/14 -- Selling Halloween, a business-to-business publication for the Halloween and haunted attractions industries has released the findings of its 2014 Industry Report. The National Retail Federation (www.nrf.com) forecasted that spending for the 2013 Halloween season would reach $6.9 billion. To provide deeper insights into these sales figures and what is driving the industry, Selling Halloween magazine, the definitive resource for Halloween retailers for 25 years, has released the results of its second annual Industry Research Report. The report, which surveyed both Halloween retailers and haunted attractions operators, reveals the reported sales and trends that impacted the Halloween and Haunt industries as a whole during the 2013 season and predicts what will drive business in 2014.
The report covers a comprehensive range of topics including: annual sales, revenue producers, sales gains, business challenges, marketing strategies, social media initiatives, investment strategies, trends and more. The survey's findings reveal that Halloween retailers are under increasing pressure to find unique product mixes in order to stand out in a sea of "me-toos." Haunt operators are looking for innovative and affordable ways to refresh attractions year-after-year. The survey offers insights into how the respondents are tackling those and other business challenges.
In an encouraging stat, the report reveals that 54.9% of retailers saw an increase in revenue, while only 23.9% saw a decrease and 19.7% said it stayed the same. On the haunt side however, 53.5% of respondents said that sales revenue increased in 2013. Only 10.46% saw a decrease and 22.1% said it stayed the same.
