Along with a sightseeing voyage that will provide passengers with wonderful scenery, a cruise onboard the MS Dixie II can include a gourmet dinner; they will also get a narration of the trip that includes fascinating stories about Fanette Island. 3. Sheridan Creek Equestrian Center
For families that want to spend time on land, there is no better way to see the beauty of Tahoe's surroundings environs than on horseback. Sheridan Creek Equestrian Center provides a range of services for horse owners that include boarding and a tack shop, but they also provide trail rides for visitors. Riding Lake Tahoe's trails is perfect for those who want to enjoy the local scenery at a more relaxed pace and with a four-legged companion. Non-riding family members will not be left out as guests may take lessons as well; they even have the option of splitting their sessions and taking a lesson and then riding the center's trail. If they want to go a little faster than is feasible on the trail, Sheridan Creek Equestrian Center has fields where they can gallop if they desire.

4. Truckee River Rafting and Whitewater Rafting
What is a summer vacation without a little adventure? What family friendly activity is more adventurous than whitewater rafting? Truckee River Whitewater Rafting is easy to get to from Tahoe and Reno and offers families an exciting time with Class 2-3 rapids. The trip is guided and may be enjoyed from May through September. It should be noted that the Truckee River trip is for children who are older than seven years, though there are Class 2 runs in the area that that are suitable for children under seven. 5. Tahoe Sport Fishing
Fishing is an excellent way for families to bond and to enjoy themselves and Tahoe Sport Fishing offers them an excellent opportunity to do this out on the water. Lake Tahoe contains a variety of fish from Kokanee salmon to rainbow trout and Mackinaw; the crew of Tahoe Sport Fishing's fleet knows the best spots on the lake to find these fish. In addition, Tahoe Sport Fishing has the largest fleet of fishing vessels on the lake. Passengers are free to catch up to five fish per person each day and the average size is two to seven pounds though there are many in the 20 to 30 pound range caught each year.
