MELBOURNE, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/15/14 -- ASA Entertainment announced today that the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will take place for the seventh consecutive year at the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, California, from Aug. 8-10, 2014. Admission to the event is free.
The Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will serve as the lone women's ASP qualifying event scheduled in the United States for the 2014 season and plays a critical role for surfers looking to solidify their position on the 2015 ASP Women's World Championship Tour (WCT).
"With the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro currently representing the only women's qualifying event in the U.S., this contest is extremely important in the girls' qualification process for next year's WCT," said Jessi Miley-Dyer, ASP Women's Tour Manager. "Results at the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro could be make-or-break for girls on the qualifying bubble."
In addition to being the only Women's Star event in the U.S., the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will also be the largest female contest in the world with 104 of the planet's top pros expected to compete. Some of the world-class surfers registered include Alana Blanchard, Malia Manuel, Coco Ho, Courtney Conlogue, Laura Enever, Bianca Buitendag, Dmity Stoyle, Alessa Quizon, Sage Erickson, Paige Hareb, Pauline Ado and Bethany Hamilton.
"I can't begin to explain how excited all of the girls are about this event," said Malia Manuel, the fifth ranked surfer in the world and Supergirl Pro defending champion. "It's so amazing to have a contest like this in the U.S. that focuses entirely on women's surfing. I've been to the event every year, but being the defending champion makes it even more special in 2014."
In addition to the best surfing talent in the world, the Supergirl Pro features a free, action-packed festival village that features live bands, comedy, art, yoga, fitness, dance, female surf films, seminars, autographs from the pros, hair styling by Paul Mitchell and more.
"We are really pleased about the expansion of the Supergirl Pro in 2014 and the record-breaking field of women participating," said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event's management company. "We're proud to have supported women's surfing for eight years and to have provided a platform for important causes around sustainability and breast cancer awareness."
"Paul Mitchell is thrilled to be involved with such an amazing group of women, and we are proud to have the largest field of talent in women's surfing competing at our event," said Julie Solwold, Vice President of Global Sports and Events at John Paul Mitchell Systems. "These girls have style, grace, beauty and athleticism that align perfectly with our brand, and we are excited to help them gain much-deserved exposure for their sport."

What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...

Docker offers a new, lightweight approach to application portability. Applications are shipped using a common container format and managed with a high-level API. Their processes run within isolated namespaces that abstract the operating environment independently of the distribution, versions, network setup, and other details of this environment. This "containerization" has often been nicknamed "the new virtualization." But containers are more than lightweight virtual machines. Beyond their small...
