FREDERICK, MD -- (Marketwired) -- 07/16/14 -- Global leader in innovative translation and localization solutions, Welocalize, has renewed its bronze sponsorship of leading non-profit translation charity, Translators without Borders.
Founded in 1993, Translators without Borders provides people with access to vital knowledge in their language by connecting non-profit organizations to a community of professional translators. The organization serves to build local language capacity and raise awareness about language barriers.
"We're so pleased to have Welocalize as one of our sponsors," said Rebecca Petras, program director of Translators without Borders. "Their support helps us continue to support significant projects, like responding to crises around the world and telling the world that translation matters. How helpful is information when the people who need it don't understand it? Translators without Borders makes it possible for communities to have access to crucial, life-saving information, in their own language."
More than 2,300 Translators without Borders volunteers provide educational, healthcare and disaster-relief content translation for non-profits. To date, they have delivered over 18 million words to humanitarian organizations and donated more than $3.4 million in pro bono translations.
"We pleased to continue our support for all the great work that Translators without Borders provides to non-profits around the world," said Smith Yewell, CEO, Welocalize. "The work they do vital to the global community and also it raises the value and awareness of how translation helps get essential information to people in a language they understand."
