The Top Credit Cards for Retirees, Announced by CreditCardChaser.com

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 07/18/14 -- Being a retiree might mean more time to do the things people enjoy doing, but for most, it means living on a fixed income and adhering to strict budgetary guidelines. Unless they have a business interest that continues paying them during retirement or some other form of retirement income, there is no additional income coming in other than from retirement accounts and Social Security. Fixed incomes make it critically important for seniors to have access to affordable credit for the unexpected costs that arise.

The three top credit cards for seniors as determined by CreditCardChaser.com are:

Discover it chrome

One of the newer credit cards offered to U.S. consumers also is one of the best for the nation's retirees. The Discover it chrome card offers excellent cash-back programs for senior citizens and others while also providing excellent lending rates and forgiveness of missed payments. Cardholders can earn up to 2 percent back in cash on as much as $1,000 in charges on various revolving consumer categories. Whether using the card to pay for a restaurant meal or fill up the car's gas tank, the card will provide $2 back for each $100 in charges made in those consumer categories. All others purchases are good for a 1 percent cash back bonus.

The Discover it chrome is an excellent card for retirees to use for emergency expenses, such as unexpected car repairs or sudden medical emergencies. New cardholders have up to 14 months to pay off the balance with no interest charged, including on balance transfers as well as purchases. After the initial 14 months, the card charges interest rates ranging from about 11 percent to 23 percent, depending on credit scores. Monthly credit card statements also provide a free consumer credit score for cardholders, making the Discover it chrome one of the best credit cards for retirees and other consumers.

Citi Simplicity

Another top credit card for senior citizens gives them and other consumers up to 18 months to pay down balances with 0 percent interest on purchases and balance transfers from other credit cards. After the initial introductory period and its 0 percent interest rate is over, the card generally charges a modest 15.99 percent interest rate. The Citi Simplicity card also protects against credit card theft and fraud with zero liability for unauthorized charges. That means seniors won't have to be as concerned about their credit cards being snatched by unscrupulous people who might otherwise take advantage of them, such as house cleaners, in-home caregivers and others who have greater access to valuables and credit cards owned by retirees.

One of the greatest advantages of the Citi Simplicity card is its "Price Rewind" program that allows retirees and others to register the purchases they make with their credit cards and will search retailer websites for up to 30 days to locate a better deal. If a selling price that is at least $25 lower is found elsewhere, the Citi Simplicity card will reduce the amount of the charge to reflect the lower price. That means retirees don't have to worry about shopping for the best deal. They can just let Citi Simplicity do it for them.

Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard - Average Credit

Not everyone can have great credit scores, especially if they are faced with fixed incomes and recently unexpected expenses that had negative impacts on their credit scores. Fortunately, the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard - Average Credit offers a good credit card for those with less-than-stellar credit. There is no annual fee, and cardholders can build up bonus points for use on various promotional items. The card provides two bonus points for every dollar spent on gas and groceries and one bonus point but does have a 24.99 percent annual rate on balances.

The term culture has had a polarizing effect among DevOps supporters. Some propose that culture change is critical for success with DevOps, but are remiss to define culture. Some talk about a DevOps culture but then reference activities that could lead to culture change and there are those that talk about culture change as a set of behaviors that need to be adopted by those in IT. There is no question that businesses successful in adopting a DevOps mindset have seen departmental culture change, ...

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...
