Online Payroll Provider Wagepoint Processes $120 Million in Canadian Payroll; Announces Expansion to US

WATERLOO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/22/14 -- Online payroll provider Wagepoint today announced it has processed more than $120 million in payroll since the company's launch to market in 2013, helping small businesses in Canada adopt a simple, and more effective payroll process.

According to The Canadian Payroll Association, 1.5 million employers annually produce more than 26 million T4 slips, nearly 10 million T4A's and nearly 7 million RL-1's. They also annually pay $860 billion in wages and taxable benefits, $268 billion in statutory remittances to the federal and provincial governments and $94 billion in health and retirement benefits, while complying with more than 190 federal and provincial regulatory requirements.

As Canada's only online payroll startup, Wagepoint was purposefully designed to eliminate the complexity that goes hand in hand with the payroll process - allowing small business owners to focus on what they do best - drive revenue and build lasting customer relationships. Wagepoint's solution, which has consistently experienced double-digit growth year/year, has now been adopted by 500+ small businesses in a range of industries across Canada, supporting a workforce of more than 4,000 people.

The company also announced today its expansion into the US marketplace, with support for federal, state and local tax reporting in all 50 states and territories.

Customers of Wagepoint adore the simple solution, and the company, which prides itself on delivering over the top customer support:

Industry-leading event planning firm

"At my former business, we used one of the large international online payroll companies. We would continuously be frustrated by how cumbersome the program was, how many different things they would charge us a fee for, and the lack of personalized customer service," says James Blackburn, owner of West of Contra, a Toronto-based event marketing and production company. "Upon starting my next company, I sought out a better solution. I've been very happy with my decision to go with Wagepoint; it offers a much easier to use interface, the staff are exceedingly helpful and the cost is much lower."

Technology startup

"We have been using Wagepoint since June 2013 and are very happy with it," says Shivram Rajdev, co-founder of Analyze Re, a Halifax-based provider of portfolio risk management and pricing systems. "Wagepoint's on boarding process was quick, the customer service is excellent and the costs are reasonable for a start-up such as ours. It takes me literally 30 seconds to do my payroll and this is very important to me given the time constraints for other critical tasks."

Vegetarian Restaurant Chain

"Over our 15 year history, we have been with five payroll companies and there is no doubt that Wagepoint is the best," says Barry Alper, partner in Fresh Restaurants, a Toronto-based provider of vegetarian food and made to order juices, serving customers out of four locations.

Thanks to Docker, it becomes very easy to leverage containers to build, ship, and run any Linux application on any kind of infrastructure. DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice.
