Datalink Earns Top Ranking in FlexPod & Clustered Data ONTAP Sales in the Americas

Datalink (NASDAQ: DTLK), a leading provider of data center infrastructure and services, has been ranked top-performing partner in the Americas for FlexPod and clustered Data ONTAP based on revenues during NetApp’s 2014 fiscal year. Cisco and NetApp’s FlexPod solution is a key enabler of Datalink services that assist customers in IT modernization, private/hybrid cloud, and IT-as-a-Service initiatives ranging from cloud enablement to creation of self-service portals enabling business users with no IT knowledge to request IT services. Clustered Data ONTAP® is NetApp’s new storage operating system, used in both FlexPod deployments and standalone NetApp filers.

Datalink has designed and deployed more than 200 infrastructures built around FlexPod, a pretested and validated data center architecture that combines networking, computing and storage in a shared infrastructure combining Cisco® Unified Computing System servers, Cisco network switches and NetApp unified storage systems. Those installations as well as the sale of new and upgraded NetApp storage systems have led to Datalink’s strong performance with clustered Data ONTAP®, which provides the ability to scale and operate efficiently across the unified environment by enabling storage resources to be virtualized and managed as a single local pool.

“Datalink recognized the value of our integrated infrastructure early on, and developed the expertise and services to support it at all stages of the IT lifecycle,” said Regina Kunkle, vice president, America’s Channel at NetApp. “Their top-ranking FlexPod and clustered Data ONTAP sales this year demonstrate strong market traction for these solutions as well as their work in driving and supporting customer adoption.”

Datalink has been recommending and deploying FlexPod-based data center infrastructures since the converged architecture was introduced four years ago as a means of streamlining IT management and improving business agility. Because of that early start as well as a commitment to helping customers upgrade to a unified environment, the company was the first NetApp channel partner in the U.S. to earn FlexPod Premium Partner status demonstrating its advanced competencies with the converged stack.

Today, in addition to core FlexPod-related design and implementation services, Datalink offers managed services and OneCall unified support for FlexPod and other unified infrastructures as well as an array of advanced services to support evolving data center needs. Those advanced services span data center relocation, migration services, business continuity/disaster recovery, and cloud service management such as service catalog development, cloud readiness assessment and overall cloud strategy. The company’s dedicated in-house consulting team works closely with the company’s infrastructure and deployment specialists to ensure that recommendations match technology capabilities, best practices and the customer’s specific business environment.

“Datalink immediately saw converged infrastructure as not only an optimized way to architect a data center, but also as a gateway to private and hybrid cloud solutions. Consequently, we made early investments in intellectual capital to allow us to deploy, support and manage these solutions for our customers,” said Shawn O’Grady, Chief Operating Officer at Datalink. “FlexPod is a cornerstone of our data center transformation offerings and an important driver of our growth.”

There's Big Data, then there's really Big Data from the Internet of Things. IoT is evolving to include many data possibilities like new types of event, log and network data. The volumes are enormous, generating tens of billions of logs per day, which raise data challenges. Early IoT deployments are relying heavily on both the cloud and managed service providers to navigate these challenges. In her session at Big Data Expo®, Hannah Smalltree, Director at Treasure Data, discussed how IoT, Big D...

But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using ...
What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...
