EfficientIP, a leading developer of DDI solutions (DNS/DHCP services and IP Address Management), announced today that Southern Illinois University (SIU) has selected their SOLIDserver™ DDI solution over the competition to manage its IP addresses and DHCP network services, with plans to migrate DNS services in the future.

Southern Illinois University had been using numerous spreadsheets to manage their IP addresses, but this was not a powerful enough method to effectively manage the large quantity that they have. By using shared spreadsheets, there was limited network visibility, the risk of error was high, and there was no way to share the IP management administrative requirements across multiple teams. With the evolution of BYOD, students and professors are now connecting up to 7 devices each, so managing the steady increase of IP addresses was a challenge for SIU. Initially, when the University started looking for a formal DDI solution, the products they tested had issues successfully managing all of their IP addresses. They found that the response time from the user interfaces were too slow and there was very limited workflow functionality built-in to delegate management to their internal teams.
