BAKERSFIELD, CA--(Marketwired - July 23, 2014) - Terra Novo, a leading manufacturer of erosion and sediment-control products in Bakersfield, Calif., today announced the acceptance of its pre-packaged, one-step erosion- and sediment-control product, EarthGuard Fiber Matrix, as an approved erosion-control product by the state departments of transportation in Georgia, North Dakota and Virginia.
"By using EarthGuard Fiber Matrix, our customers not only benefit from its incredible results, but its affordability," says Scott Harrison, president of Terra Novo. "Material and labor costs are significantly reduced, providing the customer with exceptional results for a considerably lower cost than the competition. It's always exciting to hear that our product is being accepted and recommended by state agencies across the U.S., proving that it's raising an industry standard."
Below are the details of EarthGuard Fiber Matrix's recent achievements:
- The Georgia Department of Transportation New Products Evaluation Committee has accepted EarthGuard Fiber Matrix to its list of approved products for use in road and bridge construction or maintenance.
- The North Dakota of Transportation recently accepted EarthGuard Fiber Matrix as an approved erosion-control product.
- The Virginia Department of Transportation's New Products Committee recently approved EarthGuard Fiber Matrix for use as an EC-3 Soil Stabilization Mat. EarthGuard Fiber Matrix has been added to VDOT Approved List 57- Standard.
EarthGuard Fiber Matrix is a patented technology, which combines EarthGuard -- a spray-on emulsion that reduces erosion and sediment runoff -- and wood/cellulose fiber to form a matrix that provides extended erosion control protection in severe situations. It is chemically engineered to be effective at low rates while absorbing the impact of raindrops and providing immediate dust control, erosion control and soil stabilization until permanent vegetation is established or construction has resumed. EarthGuard Fiber Matrix's versatility allows it to be highly effective in many applications: erosion control, slope stabilization, dust abatement, landscape design, reclamation, storm water runoff protection, fire/burn rehabilitation, land development and golf-course construction.
EarthGuard Fiber Matrix works by creating a liquid net, providing soil aggregate protection, flocculating fine sediments and controlling splash erosion. It stops the breakdown of erosion forces in the dirt rather than simply blanketing the soil, as a flexible growth medium or bonded fiber matrix (BFM) does. Because it works on the soil rather than on mulch or synthetic fibers, users save on cost without compromising performance. Competitors' spray-on blanket products must cover 100% of a surface area in order to work. EarthGuard covers more area in a shorter amount of time and naturally spreads to untreated areas, requiring significantly less product and labor.
Terra Novo's patented, university-tested and worksite-proven products are distributed in all 50 states and Canada and exported internationally. For more information, visit www.terranovo.com.

The security devil is always in the details of the attack: the ones you've endured, the ones you prepare yourself to fend off, and the ones that, you fear, will catch you completely unaware and defenseless. The Internet of Things (IoT) is nothing if not an endless proliferation of details. It's the vision of a world in which continuous Internet connectivity and addressability is embedded into a growing range of human artifacts, into the natural world, and even into our smartphones, appliances, a...

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...

DevOps is all about agility. However, you don't want to be on a high-speed bus to nowhere. The right DevOps approach controls velocity with a tight feedback loop that not only consists of operational data but also incorporates business context. With a business context in the decision making, the right business priorities are incorporated, which results in a higher value creation. In his session at DevOps Summit, Todd Rader, Solutions Architect at AppDynamics, discussed key monitoring techniques...

What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...

The definition of IoT is not new, in fact it’s been around for over a decade. What has changed is the public's awareness that the technology we use on a daily basis has caught up on the vision of an always on, always connected world. If you look into the details of what comprises the IoT, you’ll see that it includes everything from cloud computing, Big Data analytics, “Things,” Web communication, applications, network, storage, etc. It is essentially including everything connected online from ha...
