VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/28/14 -- The Western Canadian Shippers' Coalition (WCSC) announced today that Mr. David Montpetit has been appointed as Chairman. Mr. Montpetit replaces Mr. Ian May who retired on June 30, 2014 following a fourteen-year term beginning in April 2000.
Mr. May's contributions cannot be understated and members of the WCSC wish to thank him for all his hard work during the course of his appointment. His passion and dedication in lobbying for shipper's rights was unparalleled.
Mr. Montpetit, a former WCSC member, is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in the bulk commodity sector. In his current position as president of Diadem Group LTD., Mr. Montpetit works in the rail transportation and port logistics industry to improve efficiencies and reduce costs across the board. His abilities are underpinned by more than twenty years' of experience in project/sales management and contract negotiation and administration. He has a proven history of being a highly effective facilitator who builds trusting relationships and who can bridge the gaps between and among customers, subject matter experts, business and technical teams, local community stakeholders, governments, media and executives.
"I am delighted to be taking up the chair of the WCSC and look forward to working with members to ensure our mandate evolves in step with shippers' transportation issues," says Mr. Montpetit.
For over twenty years the WCSC has been a respected industry association, bringing together a broad based collection of companies to discuss and share perspectives and ideas on important transportation issues. The appointment of David Montpetit as Chairman demonstrates the coalition's commitment to remain active in its representation of western Canadian shippers.
