FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/31/14 -- On August 16, Curiosities Auction House will host a fundraiser sponsored by City Power Marketing and the company's owner, Steve Tsingas. The quirky auction house on Thirteenth Street in Fort Lauderdale offers a modern, chic and unique experience. Located in a loft-like 5,700-square-foot large warehouse with 14-foot ceilings and polished concrete flooring, Curiosities opens its doors to curious guests, eager sellers and willing bidders for live auctions on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Visitors can take advantage of the valet parking before entering the showroom to take a look at the items for sale that are arranged between the rustic wood columns, while enjoying some complimentary beer or wine. Items range from classy to contemporary and include furniture, art, jewelry, antiques, historical artifacts, unique cars, statues, collectibles, architectural pieces, signed memorabilia and much more.
Proceedings from the fundraiser auction on August 16 will help the HIV/Aids Services of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami. The Catholic Charities have care teams of specially trained volunteers that offer emotional and spiritual support to people affected by HIV/Aids. The support comes in different shapes and forms, including friendly visits and phone calls, organization of social gatherings, mentoring and life skills training, assistance in dealing with authorities when applying for public benefits and support for patients dealing with end of life issues. Volunteers receive extensive training, attend monthly meetings and sign confidentiality agreements prior to starting their work for Catholic Charities, to guarantee that people who make use of the HIV/Aids Services feel safe and well taken care of.
Since the Catholic Charities offers their support services free of charge, the program relies on donations from individuals and local companies. One of those companies is City Power Marketing, a commodity trading company for wholesale power transactions based in Fort Lauderdale, whose owner, Steve Tsingas, is known in the community for his dedication to nonprofit organizations and charities. Catholic Charities is not the only good cause benefiting from Tsingas' generosity, others are, for example SHUZZ, an organization that aims at supplying children in need across the United States and in developing countries with shoes or Jack & Jill Children's Center program, which benefit children and families in need.
Steve Tsingas was born in Greece, where he spent most of his childhood, before moving to the United States with his parents when he was 10 years old. Tsingas is a prime example for a typical American rags-to-riches story. Because his family did not have a lot of money, he financed his studies through working numerous side jobs, from mowing lawns, to repairing cars to delivering pizzas. His will power and endurance paid off when Tsingas earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University in Chester, PA, and eventually an MBA from the University of Maryland as well as many merits and certificates, including a Professional Engineer license. Equipped with his academic achievements, Steve started working as field engineer and as a power plant engineer before he founded his own company, City Power Marketing LLC, in 2005, which has developed into a hugely successful business.
