Bend Mapping Scanning Sales Grow by 50% with Contex HD iFLEX Scanner

Bend Mapping uses the HD iFLEX flat bed scanner to capture high-quality images for short-run digital prints or archiving

ROCKVILLE, Md., July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Contex, the world's leader of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, today announces that long-time Contex customer Bend Mapping & Blueprint has experienced a 50% increase in its scanning business since implementing the Contex HD iFLEX flatbed scanner in January 2014. Oregon-based Bend Mapping, known for providing speedy service and completing difficult jobs, purchased the flat bed scanner after repeatedly turning away customers with three-dimensional originals or exceptionally fragile documents. After 6 months of installing the HD iFLEX scanner, Bend Mapping anticipates a swift return on investment within 2.5 years.

"Our customers needed to digitize objects and fragile originals that require careful handling that the HD iFLEX allows," comments Rob Butler, owner of Bend Mapping & Blueprint. "With the Contex scanner, we are able to meet the diverse needs of our community by producing high-quality digital versions at a reasonable price."

Bend Mapping invested in the HD iFLEX flatbed scanner to serve a market segment that represents 20% of its business: local residents and artists whose originals and artwork is not easily reproducible due to size, materials, or mounting. Thanks to the HD iFLEX, Bend Mapping can capture high-quality scans for short-run digital prints, to share or archive.

In a recent scanning project, a local high school football team hired Bend Mapping to capture decades worth of framed photos, many water damaged, for a banner and mural. Without removing them from the frames, Bend Mapping used the HD iFLEX to capture the photos with exceptional image quality.

HD iFLEX provides flexibility

The HD iFLEX's large flatbed surface allows for scanning originals of any thickness. The ultrabright LED light eliminates unwanted shadows in flat originals, and captures the necessary shadows in three-dimensional objects and artwork.

A significant benefit of the HD iFLEX is its large scanning area. Though the HD iFLEX has an A2/C-size footprint, Contex's Nextimage scanning software allows the device to capture an A1/D-size original. The hardware scans the image area in just four seconds, and its camera provides a full 600 x 600 optical resolution. Bend Mapping staffers can easily connect the HD iFLEX to any one of its five wide-format printers.
