Visit NASA Google+ Hangout with Edison Nation for a MindShift

HAMPTON, Va., July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA Langley Research Center will host a Google+ Hangout on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. EDT to discuss MindShift, a training and entertainment technology that mimics reality.

Located in Hampton, Virginia, NASA Langley is working with Edison Nation, an open innovation online service, to help distribute its discoveries and patents. Edison Nation will target companies that can immediately license and use NASA technology, beginning with MindShift.

If a user's physiological signals indicate that they are not in an optimal performance state, MindShift alters the speed, strength or steadiness of their controller. In this way, MindShift provides an additional skill challenge in videogames. Using biofeedback software and technology, players are able to modify their concentration and stress levels via physiological indicators to steady their aim displayed in the game.

Panelists for the Hangout are:

  • Alan Pope, NASA Langley researcher and MindShift co-inventor
  • Chad Stephens, NASA Langley researcher and Mindshift co-Inventor
  • Nina Blanson, former NASA Langley intern and Mindshift co-inventor
  • Scott Dromms, Edison Nation intellectual property manager

The Hangout will be broadcast on NASA Langley's Google+ and YouTube pages. NASA social media followers may submit questions on Google+ or Twitter in advance and during the event using the hashtag #askNASA. Before the hangout begins, NASA Langley will open a thread on its Facebook page where questions may be posted.
