NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Last year, Privado Marketing Group LLC, DC 115 Cedar NR, LLC and Don Coqui Holding Company, LLC (collectively, "Don Coqui") commenced a lawsuit against Eleftheria Restaurant Corp. alleging trademark infringement by Eleftheria of Don Coqui's trademarks and name in connection with Eleftheria's operation of its restaurant in Astoria, Queens.
Recently, US Federal District Court (S.D.N.Y.) Judge Edgardo Ramos dismissed all of Eleftheria's counterclaims against Don Coqui relating to the ownership and use of trademarks associated with "Don Coqui." Eleftheria alleged in its counterclaims that Don Coqui was not the proper legal owner of the trademarks and that Eleftheria had rights in and to the Don Coqui trademark. The Court did not agree, holding that, "the pleadings are entirely devoid of factual allegations tending to render [Eleftheria's] use claims plausible." This decision paves the way for Don Coqui to obtain a judgment from the Court to prevent Eleftheria from using the name "Don Coqui" as well as to seek both compensatory and punitive damages for Eleftheria's blatant illegal use of the "Don Coqui" name.
Don Coqui is a family restaurant serving Puerto Rican cuisine and Classic American staples, and the concept of well-known Restaurateur Jimmy Rodriguez. The family now owns and operate three Don Coqui restaurants in The Bronx (City Island), New Rochelle and White Plains. Mr. Rodriguez began his restaurant career over 2 decades ago, which he now continues with his children Jaleene, Jewelle and Jimmy Jr., who are all involved in the restaurant operations.
Mr. Rodriguez said of the decision, "I am thrilled that the counterclaims have been dismissed, which now allows me to seek both a cease and desist against Eleftheria to stop using the "Don Coqui" name, as well as pursue my damage claims against Eleftheria. Their use of the name "Don Coqui" has caused ongoing damages to its reputation and the value of the restaurants. I look forward to the day when those damages will be addressed. The concept of Don Coqui is the result of my years in the restaurant business and a legacy to my children, and our patrons can only find the real Don Coqui restaurants online via doncoqui.tv, and not doncoqui.com. So if you are looking to EAT. DRINK. PARTY a la Don Coqui, please visit us in New Rochelle, White Plains or The Bronx (City Island) locations. Mi casa es su casa."

WebRTC defines no default signaling protocol, causing fragmentation between WebRTC silos. SIP and XMPP provide possibilities, but come with considerable complexity and are not designed for use in a web environment. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Matthew Hodgson, technical co-founder of the Matrix.org, discussed how Matrix is a new non-profit Open Source Project that defines both a new HTTP-based standard for VoIP & IM signaling and provides reference implementations.

Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team at Google. Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices. Nearly every company today working on the IoT comes up with the same basic solution: use my server and you'll be fine. But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using ...

The Internet of Things is tied together with a thin strand that is known as time. Coincidentally, at the core of nearly all data analytics is a timestamp. In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Jim Scott, Director of Enterprise Strategy & Architecture at MapR Technologies, discussed single-value, geo-spatial, and log time series dat...

What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...
