Sedation Dentistry Makes a Patient's Next Dental Appointment Stress-Free

Eau Claire dentist, Dr. Tony Martin, provides relief from dental anxiety.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- For many, just the idea of going to the dentist can shake up their nerves. However, for some, the fear of the dentist is so engrained and intense that it can make dental appointments more than unpleasant. Dental phobias are serious and surprisingly common. Statistics have found that as many as 15 percent of Americans suffer from some form of dental anxiety.

Dental anxiety is more than just sweaty palms and nervousness. Instead it's an intense and paralyzing fear of the dentist and dental treatments. This phobia can often lead patients to not seek treatment even when they need to. However, Dr. Tony Martin of Eau Claire, WI has found a way to combat dental anxiety and provide patients with a comforting and relaxing visit—Sedation dentistry.

"I'm happy to be able to offer my patients a way to get the dental treatments they need while feeling calm throughout the process. We are able to do this by offering sedation dentistry," says Dr. Tony Martin. "We have noticed that patients who have dental anxieties are hypersensitive to pain. This makes the experience even more stressful for them. We want to combat this by offering a way to remove pain and fear from the equation."

Sedation dentistry is the use of medication to relax the patient and also to block any pain that a patient might feel during treatment. There are several ways to relieve dental anxiety during a patient's next dental visit with Dr. Tony Martin: Oral and inhalation sedation.

"Oral sedation is often the most popular option because there are no needles involved," says Dr. Martin. "This is especially important for those who are severely nervous about dental procedures and instruments. While you are still conscious during treatment, the oral sedation contains amnesic properties so you will probably remember very little of your appointment."

If oral sedation isn't right for a patient, he or she may opt for inhalation sedation, better known as nitrous oxide. While nitrous oxide isn't a pain reliever, it can create a euphoric feeling that will keep a patient cool and calm during their dental procedure. What makes nitrous oxide so popular is that it wears off quickly, so patients don't experience any negative lingering drug effects.

"Nitrous oxide has been used for almost a century and has a good track records. A lot of patients like this option because it's a quick way to feel relaxed during a dental visit but it's also extremely safe because your body functions normally even while under sedation," says Dr. Martin.

Patients who need to see their dentist but have a paralyzing dental phobia can now find out more about sedation dentistry in Eau Claire by calling Dr. Tony Martin at (715) 835-8311. Patients can also visit his website at http://www.martindentalec.com/.

DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support.
