Geenex and ET Solar Jointly Develop a 20MW AC Utility-scale Project in North Carolina

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ET Solar Energy Corp. ("ET Solar"), a leading smart energy solutions provider, announced that its U.S. subsidiary ET Capital, with Geenex, a leading solar energy developer, have closed financing and started construction on a 20MW AC - 30MW DC utility-scale project which will be completed and connected to the grid this year in Halifax County North Carolina.

"In collaboration with Geenex, we are excited to bring green solar energy to North Carolina as the joint owner and developer of the project," Dennis She, President and CEO of ET Solar, commented. "This type of scale, unheard of just a few short years ago, would not be possible without the support and dedication of a group of strong partners with a shared vision. We appreciate their efforts and look forward to working closely with Geenex to accomplish more projects in the future."

With this project, ET Capital has showcased its partnership strategy that allows the firm to work with its development and EPC partners in an efficient and sustainable manner that creates a predictable and reliable platform for transacting and closing project opportunities through every phase of development and construction. The creation of this end-to-end solution relieves the burden of seeking multiple sources of capital, saving time and money while increasing profits.

"The entire project is unique," said Georg Veit, CEO of Geenex. "It is developed with invaluable/strong support from the County, as part of an economic development agreement, meaning we are doing much more than just building a solar farm. Geenex's vision doesn't end with one of the largest solar farms in the southeast but extends much further and shows that the industry will see much more from this young and energetic company. "

The system is being built on the former Halifax County Airport site, which was abandoned upon operation of the new Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport. Solar power development at this site allows Halifax County to put idle property into productive use and generate revenues for the County. Adjacent to the solar field, Geenex is building the solar center of excellence, a modern education and operations center which will ensure the project brings strong benefits to the community. The Center will be a pathway to education, training, and employment in renewable energy, as well provide the infrastructure through which the solar industry can grow. Electricity generated by the nearly one hundred thousand modules (approx. 30MW DC) on over 220 acres will be sold to Dominion North Carolina Power under a 15-year power purchase agreement.

Upon completion of the solar farm, Geenex and ET Capital plan to sell the facility to Duke Energy Renewables. "We will work closely with Geenex and ET Capital during construction, and once the project reaches commercial operation, we look forward to adding such a quality, community-centric installation to our growing portfolio of eastern North Carolina solar projects," said Brian Stallman, Vice President of Development, Duke Energy Renewables.

Geenex and ET Capital view this project as the beginning of their entry into the North Carolina solar market. "This is just the start," commented Georg Veit, "We look forward to making a significant economic contribution to the community and providing the residents of Northeast North Carolina with a reliable source of clean, renewable energy."

The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to evolve the way the world does business; however, understanding how to apply it to your company can be a mystery. Most people struggle with understanding the potential business uses or tend to get caught up in the technology, resulting in solutions that fail to meet even minimum business goals. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jesse Shiah, CEO / President / Co-Founder of AgilePoint Inc., showed what is needed to leverage the IoT to transform your business. ...
Hadoop as a Service (as offered by handful of niche vendors now) is a cloud computing solution that makes medium and large-scale data processing accessible, easy, fast and inexpensive. In his session at Big Data Expo, Kumar Ramamurthy, Vice President and Chief Technologist, EIM & Big Data, at Virtusa, will discuss how this is achieved by eliminating the operational challenges of running Hadoop, so one can focus on business growth. The true value of the Internet of Things (IoT) lies not just in the data, but through the services that protect the data, perform the analysis and present findings in a usable way. With many IoT elements rooted in traditional IT components, Big Data and IoT isn’t just a play for enterprise. In fact, the IoT presents SMBs with the prospect of launching entirely new activities and exploring innovative areas. CompTIA research identifies several areas where IoT is expected to have the greatest impac...
Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) are increasing at an unprecedented rate. The threat landscape of today is drastically different than just a few years ago. Wearable devices have come of age. The primary applications of wearables so far have been "the Quantified Self" or the tracking of one's fitness and health status. We propose the evolution of wearables into social and emotional communication devices. Our BE(tm) sensor uses light to visualize the skin conductance response. Our sensors are very inexpensive and can be massively distributed to audiences or groups of any size, in order to gauge reactions to performances, video, or any kind of present...
Even as cloud and managed services grow increasingly central to business strategy and performance, challenges remain. The biggest sticking point for companies seeking to capitalize on the cloud is data security. Keeping data safe is an issue in any computing environment, and it has been a focus since the earliest days of the cloud revolution. Understandably so: a lot can go wrong when you allow valuable information to live outside the firewall. Recent revelations about government snooping, along...

Business and IT leaders today need better application delivery capabilities to support critical new innovation. But how often do you hear objections to improving application delivery like, “I can harden it against attack, but not on this timeline”; “I can make it better, but it will cost more”; “I can deliver faster, but not with these specs”; or “I can stay strong on cost control, but quality will suffer”? In the new application economy, these tradeoffs are no longer acceptable. Customers will ...
